American news is finally connecting with Europe Islam extremism - freedom of speech now attacked

A Maine Writer blog posted two days ago made the ominous prediction about a European sentinel event. In other words, it didn't take a psychic to figure out that something terrible was about to happen, someplace in Europe, resulting from growing Islam extremism throughout Europe. Today's attack on the offices of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo has, unfortunately, fulfilled my blog prophesy.

Sadly, there's no dignity in being "dead right".

In my opinion, the world's response to the terrorist attack on the satirical Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris, where 12 people were slaughtered by three masked gunners, should be to encourage all print and other media sources to republish something the newspaper had printed.

BBCNews reports on what's described on one of the worst terrorist attacks on French soil:

Gunmen attacked the Paris office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, killing 12 people and injuring seven in an apparent Islamist attack.

At least two masked attackers opened fire with assault rifles in the office and exchanged shots with police in the street outside before escaping by car.

The gunmen shouted "we have avenged the Prophet Muhammad", witnesses say.

President Francois Hollande said there was no doubt it had been a terrorist attack "of exceptional barbarity". A major police operation is under way in the Paris area to catch the killers.

People had been "murdered in a cowardly manner", President Hollande told reporters at the scene. "We are threatened because we are a country of liberty," he added, appealing for national unity.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron said in a tweet: "The murders in Paris are sickening. We stand with the French people in the fight against terror and defending the freedom of the press."

Julie's note - Hopefully the assailants of the deadly attack on Charlie Hebdo will be apprehended and punished. Nevertheless, just finding these murderers shouldn't be considered the end of this terrible incident. Something very deliberate and strategic must be done to eradicate religious extremism, especially the terrorism associated with radical Islamic groups that are determined to destroy modern civilizations. Freedom of speech, of course, is the apparent front line battle field of these dangerous extremists, because they  can't possibly win when world opinion exposes the evil intentions of their radicalism.

All who value freedom are French citizens today.

Although American news media has largely ignored rising Islamic tensions in Europe, this attack on Freedom of Speech may have finally drawn their attention.
