Orlando Sentinel echo- letter to protect status of "dreamers"

This letter to the editor is an "echo", blogged from Florida, to support the status of "Dreamers"."

Let (immigrant) Dreamers stay- Orlando Sentinel

Regarding the editorial “Pass bipartisan bill to protect Dreamers from deportation and bolster U.S. economy”
(OrlandoSentinel.com, Wednesday):

I could not agree more with the Orlando Sentinel Editorial Board. Dreamers must be protected, and the surest way to do this is to pass bipartisan legislation that would allow undocumented immigrants who have been in the United States since childhood to maintain a legal status, and apply for citizenship, as long as they can meet certain educational, employment and background requirements.

I also believe that President Trump should stand with the Florida delegation, including Sen. Marco Rubio and Bill Nelson and Reps. Carlos Curbelo, Mario Diaz-Balart and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, in making the protection of Dreamers a priority. The president should not allow 10 state attorneys general to sway him when there are so many Dreamers who love this country and need his help.

There are more than 800,000 immigrants in the United States who have been granted Dreamer status, 33,000 of whom reside in Florida. Revoking those permits would cost the U.S economy more than $460 billion over a decade. In Florida alone, loss of work permits would cost the state economy $1.5 billion a year.
