American Dream is not a vision of fear and anger- Never Trump

"Fear and anger in Trump-land" writes Anthony Zurcher, the North American BBCNews reporter.

Indeed, the world is wondering how that "shining city on a hill" described by President Ronald Reagan can possibly allow Donald Trump to be so close to the office of "Leader of the Free World"?

A "City upon a Hill" is a Biblical phrase in Matthew 5:14, "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden." It has become popular with American politicians.  Yet, with Donald Trump, the "city", meaning our American Dream, is now being contaminated like a fermenting vegetable by Donald Trump as he builds a horrifying campaign to the election upon rhetoric laced with toxic fear and anger.

Moreover, the fear and anger are perpetrated by men who claim to be of faith. Governor Mike Pence, is a professed Christian, formerly a Roman Catholic, can't be serious when he supports candidate Donald Trump! Speaking of Roman Catholics, former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, the zealous radio pundit Hugh Hewett, and the political "has been", former Congressman Newt Gingrich, are on the media circuits preaching the Trumpism rhetoric, as though their faith is just something they wear on politically special occasions- like election day.

Fear and anger are not conceptually embraced by any Biblical references and certainly, most especially, these cowering attributes were never demonstrated by Jesus Christ. Obviously, the Bible teaches us the virtues of courage, especially when fear and anger want to consume our human emotions.

I've been a reluctant admirer of President Ronald Reagan, because he was a good enough actor to play the role of President for 8 years. Yet, Reagan's vision of America as a "shining city on the hill" is certainly embroiled in the nation's political branding. Unfortunately, the vision laid forth by President Reagan is being obliterated by candidate Donald Trump and his hypocritical followers.  Fear and anger did not build our "shining city on the hill".  Rather, immigrants and farmers and union workers built our nation into a "shining city on a hill".  Donald Trump's father made money in real estate, by using their money.

Let's never allow Donald Trump and his misguided followers to destroy what it took Americans hundreds of years and many millions in human treasures, to create.
