Majorities of Americans disapprove of ICE and say the agency mistreats our citizens and immigrants.

The high rate of disapproval about ICE may stem in part from concerns about the agency's tactics. Half (52%) of Americans say that ICE's tactics are too forceful. Only 26% say that its tactics are about right and 11% say that they are not forceful enough.

Majorities of both Democrats (86%) and Independents (60%) say that ICE's tactics are too forceful. But only 12% of Republicans think ICE is too forceful; 52% say ICE's tactics are about right. Those who think ICE's tactics are not forceful enough are in the minority in all three groups: 1% of Democrats, 8% of Independents, and 24% of Republicans.

About half of Americans support protests against ICE: Americans are more likely to somewhat or strongly approve than disapprove of protests against ICE actions (48% vs. 39%). Majorities of Democrats (76%) and Independents (55%) approve of protests against ICE actions, with small shares disapproving (12% of Democrats and 28% of Independents). Most Republicans disapprove of anti-ICE protests (76%, compared to 13% who approve).

Donald Trump too old to create a power struglgle with God. Other despots before him tried and failed and at a younger age.

Dear Editor: So many people who voted for Trump are eager to show their hatred for others. They blame others for their own shortcomings. If they are not successful or rich, they blame others who are. If someone is needy, they say they are lazy, not needy. Trump encourages violent behavior by promoting evil groups like The Proud Boys, white supremacists and other hate groups. Is that God’s will❓

Many Trump supporters say they are anti-abortion. If they or someone they truly loved were in a life-threatening pregnancy what would they do? If someone is unstable, mentally or physically and is made to give birth, someone has to take responsibility for that child. Many of the same anti-abortion people do not want to be responsible for that child. Many men are totally anti-abortion. If they believe they are right about abortion, they must stop impregnating women. Did Trump ever have sex outside of marriage? Hah, ask yourself.

Now, about God’s will, ask yourself to honestly evaluate all of Trump’s past and present actions. With his morals, who would want him to lead our country, God or Satan?

Please don’t pretend he isn’t evil. Whether or not you are a Christian, the teachings of Christ are all moral and good. You know, feed the hungry, clothe the naked. God wants us to do good things for others. He does not want us to do the things Trump has already done and continues to do. Trump wants to be king of the United States. God is my only king. 

The clergymen who prayed at his inauguration were praying for peace and unity. Trump is pulling our country and the world apart , there is no peace or unity under his Nazi inspired authoritarianism and despotic rule.

Rest in peace Mr. Ben Ferencz: Hero of justice for millions of murdered Jews

Ben Ferencz (1920-2003) - After World War II, he brought 22 Nazi officers to trial for murder. The men were Einsatzgruppen commanders who were responsible for killing more than a million people — not in concentration camps, but in towns and villages across Eastern Europe. 

They would never have been brought to justice were it not for Ferencz.

Ben Ferencz, was the last living Nuremberg prosecutor. He died at 103, in Boynton Beach, Florida.

At 27, he prosecuted Nazis for more than 1 million deaths in perhaps the largest murder case in history.

Ben Ferencz was a 27-year-old lawyer with no courtroom experience when he prosecuted what would be called the largest murder case in history. Standing 5-foot-2, he nearly disappeared behind the lectern in the packed courtroom in Nuremberg, Germany, in 1947.

Mr. Ferencz, a Transylvanian-born Jew who had arrived in the United States as an infant, presented to a U.S. tribunal the massive case against 22 authorities of the mobile Nazi killing units, called Einsatzgruppen, that operated in Eastern Europe during World War II.

Most of the murders along the edge of the River Danube took place around December 1944 and January 1945, when the members of the Hungarian Arrow Cross Party police ("Nyilas") took as many as 20,000 Jews from the newly established Budapest ghetto and executed them along the river bank.

All 22 of the defendants were convicted. Four were executed. If not for Mr. Ferencz, a former Army investigator who personally tallied the million deaths using sequestered German war documents and brought the case to his superiors, the men might never have been tried.

Mr. Ferencz, who devoted much of the rest of his life to the cause of international justice, and who was the last living Nuremberg prosecutor, died April 7 at an assisted-living facility in Boynton Beach, Fla. He was 103. 

His son, Don, confirmed the death but gave no cause.

Mr. Ferencz spoke only Yiddish until he went to school, and he was the first person in his family to go to college. He graduated from Harvard Law School, where he studied war crimes before joining the Army midway through World War II. He was detailed to an investigations unit collecting evidence of Nazi crimes.

Following Allied liberators, Mr. Ferencz visited Nazi concentration camps, including Buchenwald, Mauthausen and Dachau.

“Even today, when I close my eyes, I witness a deadly vision I can never forget — the crematoria aglow with the fire of burning flesh, the mounds of emaciated corpses stacked like cordwood waiting to be burned,” he once said. “I had peered into hell.”

He was “the lawyer for humanity,” said John Q. Barrett, a professor of law at St. John’s University in New York City and a scholar of the Nuremberg trials. “The scale of the atrocities, the pure innocence of the victims … was at the heart of the exterminationist evil of Nazism.”

Mr. Ferencz said that when he left Europe at the end of his military service, he wished never to return to Germany. But he was soon recruited back to serve as a civilian under Brig. Gen. Telford Taylor, who succeeded U.S. Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson as chief U.S. prosecutor at Nuremberg.

By the time Mr. Ferencz’s phase of the proceedings began, the highest Nazi officials, including Hermann Göring and Rudolf Hess, had been prosecuted. Britain, France and the Soviet Union had moved on to other postwar concerns, leaving the United States to oversee any further prosecutions in Nuremberg.

Under Taylor’s prosecutorial leadership, the tribunal decided the cases of Nazi doctors who had conducted medical experiments on concentration camp inmates, as well as industrialists who had availed themselves of slave labor.

Mr. Ferencz was overseeing investigators examining documents in the German Foreign Ministry when one of his researchers discovered top-secret reports from Einsatzgruppen, detailing the towns and cities the killing squads passed through and the horrors they visited upon them. Barrett described the documents as “murder receipts.”

One, labeled Exhibit 179, was a dispatch from Kyiv.

“The city’s Jews were ordered to present themselves,” read the document, according to an account on the CBS newsmagazine “60 Minutes.” “About thirty-four thousand reported, including women and children. After they had been made to give up their clothing and valuables, all of them were killed, which took several days.”

Speaking to the London Guardian, Mr. Ferencz recalled that one defendant had ordered his troops: “If the mother is holding an infant to her breast, don’t shoot the mother, shoot the infant because the bullet will go through both of them, and you’ll save ammunition.”

With the United States seeking to form a Cold War alliance with what was to become West Germany, Taylor was under pressure to conclude the tribunal’s proceedings, Barrett said.

Initially, the overextended staff seemed unprepared to take on another case, especially one as large as the Einsatzgruppen matter. But Mr. Ferencz implored his superiors not to overlook such a consequential crime.

“I start screaming,” Mr. Ferencz told “60 Minutes” in 2017, recalling his conversation with Taylor. “I said, Look, I’ve got here mass murder, mass murder on an unparalleled scale. And he said, can you do this in addition to your other work? And I said, sure. He said, okay. So you do it.”

With that, Mr. Ferencz found himself in charge of the case.

He chose the defendants based on their rank and education. He could have charged thousands, he said, but was limited by the number of seats in the courtroom.

Putin as Hitler reincarnate: Maybe proof of evil reincarnation

Although I consider myself to be "agnostic" about the possibility of human reincarnation, the personae of Vladimir Putin is providing more evidence about how this belief in "life after live" may have credibility. Unfortunately, evil is the creature that is being revived.

There is no doubt that Vladimir Putin has succeeded in achieving one of his life purposes. He has become a vilified world-historical figure. All the world knows who he is, and all the world fears what he is up to; I suspect this applies even to members of his own household. 

He probably enjoys the distinction of being the most hated man in the world. Most likely this pleases him. For the world’s hatred is an acknowledgment of his power, and fear that he will not hesitate to use it to destroy his opponents.

Not since Hitler has anyone emerged on the world scene with such power, with such ruthlessness, without a conscience. And when he’s gone — for death will surely take him someday, historians will preserve his memory. His story will become legendary, and artists will embellish it. He may become the central figure of a great Russian opera of the 23rd century. I have never heard him speak, but in this opera the role of Putin should be sung by a bass.

Right now, Putin is an existential threat to the human race, and a great deal of nature along with it. A nuclear holocaust has become a real possibility. Journalists who have observed him suggest that he is mad, that he has become unhinged. And as the leaders of nations throughout the world consider how to restrain him, he seems like a rabid beast prepared to strike against them.

Madeleine Albright writes how Vladimir Putin has a serpentine personality.

What sort of creature is he? Madeleine Albright, who served as Secretary of State, knew him well. She has written that his appearance is serpentine and his character follows suit. His face could have been that of the clever serpent who tempted Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. For he is no doubt very clever, and of ill intent to anyone in the way of his purposes. 

Putin is the sort of face that one might inscribe on a dart board; a form of immortality he richly deserves.

But that doesn’t give us any useful sense of what we’re dealing with. And I’m speaking not only for myself, or my family, or my friends, or all the inhabitants of Middlebury, but of all people generally. For there is no doubt that Vladimir Putin is evil. He is an evil madman of world-historical proportions. Lord Acton’s comment about power — that power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely — fits him perfectly.

But that doesn’t tell us what we need to know. Hatred is not sufficient to defeat world-historical criminals. Recall what it took to exterminate Adolf Hitler.

So, what sort of man is Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin (b. 1952)?

He is a politician, of the sort political theorists classify as a political realist.

And, what is that?

To begin with political realism is a theory that warrants the use of any means of power at hand to promote, secure and defend one’s political interest. The theory also subscribes to a doctrine of moral realism: that human nature is inherently selfish. This fits Putin perfectly. We might even say that Putin is an archetypical political realist, entirely ruthless (which is consistent with his realism), unscrupulous, a nihilist that rejects moral principles.

In this respect, to suppose that he is unhinged and that his actions are expressions of madness may prove misleading, for supposing that he is mentally disturbed, we may be misled by the expectation that he will soon self-destruct. Remember, the serpent in the Garden didn’t self-destruct. It still lurks in the shadows of our minds.

We must rather regard Putin as a very determined political realist. His actions are rational (rational behavior is not always a good thing); we know his interest: secure for Russia the status of a major world power on a par with the U.S. and China; and he doesn’t care about people getting hurt; he has no scruples — but that goes with being ruthless. He’s very intelligent, a skillful politician, and he has plenty of power to use. In this context, you could say that Putin’s aggression against Ukraine is perfectly rational.

Reinhold Niebuhr was a political realist, but not a politician. He was a theologian and social moralist. He saw that political conflict rarely leaves us rational, or better, he recognized that political conflict can unhinge reason, cause it to become demonic, cruelly rational. And were he living now, he would have perceived that Putin’s lust for power has not destroyed his reason, but made it demonic and all the more dangerous, and capable of unrivalled cruelty. He would caution that the nations that oppose him (and right now that seems to include much of the world) must size him up. I believe he would have agreed, Vladimir Putin is a demonic political realist. Very dangerous. And like a wild rabid beast, he must be destroyed.

We must become realists also.

Impeach Trump again! His judgement is impaired!

As the reverberations from Tuesday September 29th, shambolic Presidential debate echoed around Washington on Wednesday, Senator Tim Scott, of South Carolina, the sole Black Republican in the upper house of Congress, called on President Donald Trump to correct his call for the Proud Boys—a far-right group that glorifies violence—to “stand back and stand by.” 

Speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill, Scott suggested that Trump had spoken in error. “White supremacy should be denounced at every turn,” Scott said. “I think the President misspoke, and he needs to correct it.”

Representative Kevin McCarthy, the House Minority Leader, defended Trump, claiming that the President did, in fact, denounce white-supremacist groups after the debate’s moderator, Chris Wallace, of Fox News, gave him the opportunity to do so. “How many times does he have to say it?” McCarthy said. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday afternoon, Trump himself pleaded ignorance, even as he adopted different language. “I don’t know who the Proud Boys are,” he said. “I mean, you’ll have to give me a definition, because I really don’t know who they are. I can only say they have to stand down. Let law enforcement do their work.”

It’s a frequent Trump tactic to claim he doesn’t know objectionable people or groups that ally themselves with him. Given the chaos that he unleashed inside the Cleveland Clinic’s Samson Pavilion on Tuesday night, with his constant interrupting and hectoring, it was perhaps inevitable that Trump would have some cleanup to do afterward. But the effort to correct himself, if that is what his comments on Wednesday amounted to, can’t disguise the over-all impression he gave at the debate: one of an embattled President who is flirting with authoritarianism and doing all he can to undermine a fair election. Given everything else he said, and his belligerent manner throughout, the discussion about whether he meant to say “stand down” instead of “stand by” is almost beside the point. The message that came out of Cleveland is that Trump has no intention of surrendering power willingly, and that his primary strategy now is to disrupt the election and its aftermath.

To grasp how high the stakes are, it’s necessary only to look around. For weeks now, Trump has been acting like he believes he is going to lose on November 3rd, unless he can upend the election, suppress votes for his opponent, and, if necessary, mobilize his supporters to contest the outcome. He told Sean Hannity—primus inter pares among Trumpzi's media acolytes—that he would deploy sheriffs and other law-enforcement officers to monitor polling stations. At a recent rally in North Carolina, he told his own supporters that it was their job to “watch all the thieving and stealing and robbing” that he said Democrats will do at the polls. In addition to adopting this sort of incendiary language, Trump has pointedly refused to say that he will accept the election result and accede to a peaceful transfer of power if he should lose.

It may be tempting to dismiss all this as Trumpian bluster.

But take a look at the video posted by the Trump campaign on Facebook a week and a half ago. Speaking close to the camera, Donald Trump, Jr., a combative gun enthusiast who serves as an unofficial liaison to the alt-right, declares, “The radical left are laying the groundwork to steal this election from my father. . . . They are planting stories that Donald Trump will have a landslide lead on Election Night but will lose when they finish counting the mail-in ballots. Their plan is to add millions of fraudulent ballots that can cancel your vote and overturn the election. We cannot let that happen. We need every able-bodied man, woman to join Army for Trump’s Election-Security Operation. . . . President Trump is going to win. Don’t let them steal it.”

If any prominent member of a right-wing populist political group, in any country, talks openly about setting up an election “army,” it should set off alarm bells, especially if that group’s candidate is struggling in the polls and saying similar things himself. At numerous points during Tuesday’s debate, Trump repeated his unfounded claims about widespread voter fraud, suggesting that the Democrats were trying to steal the election. And, once again, he refused to say that he’d accept the election’s result and tell his supporters to do the same. At the end of the debate, Wallace brought up the possibility of a period after November 3rd during which some states will still be counting mail-in ballots and the result won’t yet be clear. He asked Trump if, in such a period, he would urge his supporters “to stay calm” and “not to engage in any civil unrest.” Rather than responding positively to this request, and saying something reassuring, the President went back to his claims of rampant voter fraud, and said, “If I see tens of thousands of ballots being manipulated, I can’t go along with that.”

Even as some Republican senators professed not to know what Trump was really doing at the debate, members of the Proud Boys and other alt-right groups were in no doubt. “Starting Tuesday night and continuing Wednesday, Trump’s comments were enshrined in memes, including one depicting Trump in one of the Proud Boys’ signature polo shirts,” the Washington Post reported. “Another meme showed Trump’s quote alongside an image of bearded men carrying American flags and appearing to prepare for a fight. A third incorporated ‘stand back and stand by’ into the group’s logo.”

Whether or not the next two Presidential debates occur as planned—and they probably will—American democracy will be in serious peril for as long as Trump remains in the White House. To survive his attacks, and ultimately move beyond him, it will have to assert itself vigorously in the weeks ahead.

The refusal by Mitch McConnell to rein in Trump is looking riskier than ever.

Donald Trump's miserably failed photo-op. In fact, Trump held the Bible upside down!

Before he resigned the presidency of the United States, Richard Nixon contemplated using the Army to keep power and ignore the upcoming impeachment vote he was warned he would lose. His historical concern about his legacy in defying the Constitution stopped him.

Donald Trump is different. Trump does not care about his legacy. His staging of a religious Public Relations photo opportunity by forcing his way over the rights of peaceful protesters shows he will do anything for power. Meanwhile, the Republican, under Mitch McConnell, has disparaged the integrity of the US Senate. 

And (cult) Evangelicals have greedily luxuriated in the power that Trump gave them, becoming the immorality they profess to fight.

Donald Trump wants violence. By undermining the Postal Service and using the violence as an excuse, Trump is anxiously planing to call martial law when he loses the Electoral College and claim voter fraud. He will then try to use the military to illegally hang onto power.

I hope the military upholds the Constitution and not the (failed) Commander in Chief.

Donald Trump has "many sides" none of them is leadership

Heartfelt condolences to the family and colleagues of the young demonstrator who was deliberately killed by the pro-Nazi white supremacists , on August 12, 2017, in Charlottesville VA, during heinous KuKluxKlan riots.  

Charlottesville Virginia is the area where Thomas Jefferson's home at Monticello is located.

Obviously, the KuKluxKlan targeted one of the iconic symbols of the US Constitution, because Jefferson wrote most of it.

Charged with the murder was Alex Fields Jr., 20, of Ohio, who was arrested on one count of second-degree murder, three counts of malicious wounding, and one count of hit and run attended failure to stop with injury.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump is blaming "many sides" for the tragedy, although it was the racist side that caused the death and injuries. 

Rather than demonstrate compassionate leadership, Donald Trump read an ambiguous statement and then retreated to his Bedminister New Jersey luxury hide out.  Honestly, "ambiguity" was never a problem for Donald Trump in the past, even as recently as when he publicly criticized Attorney General Sessions or Senate President Mitch McConnell.  But when publicly addressing racism in Charlottesville, Donald Trump accused "many sides" of being complicit in the loss of life and the injuries caused by the demonstrations. I'm accusing Donald Trump of having many leadership weaknesses, because he criticizes anybody he apparently wants when projecting blame for his own shortcomings, but won't condemn the evils rooted in racism.

Violence erupted in Charlottesville, when hundreds of white nationalists, neo-Nazis and Ku Klux Klan members — planning to stage what they described as their largest rally in decades to “take America back” — clashed with counter-protesters in the streets and a car plowed into crowds, killing one young person and injuring more than a dozen others.

In his late and tepid response to the incident, Donald Trump called on the "many sides" of the deadly incident to stop the violence.
Rather than condemn racism, Trump made a "many sides" tacit attempt to neutralize the the root cause of the tragedy.

If Donald Trump really cared about this incident and wanted to bring peace, his "many sides" response would've been to acknowledge the compassionate leadership of Virginia's Governor Terry McAuliffe. In fact, the Virginia Governor responded differently and appropriately to the racist incidents. 

In anticipation of escalating violence, McAuliffe had already called for a state of emergency, even before the deliberate killing of the innocent counter-protester. Moreover, as any competent leader would do, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe will attend churches in Charlottesville, VA, on Sunday morning, where he will speak about Saturday’s chaos and violence that turned to tragedy, leaving one person dead and 19 others injured.

Rather than to give emotional support to Governor McAulliffe, instead, Donald Trump is hiding in one of his "many places". This time, he's holding up at a golf resort he owns in Bedminister, New Jersey.

In one of the "many responses" to Donald Trump's statement about the August 12, racism riot, the former KKK leader David Duke caustically reminded the "hiding in many (golf resort) places" president that,  "It was white Americans who put you in the presidency'.

Thankfully, many other responses to the Charlottesville tragedy came from leaders who bravely identified racism as the root cause of the incident.

Senator Tim Kaine, D-Virginia

Senator Tim Kaine, Democrat of Virginia, who was a Vice Presidential candidate in 2016, wrote:

"Virginia has come so far in recent decades to put division behind us. Both Anne and I are so proud of this progress. It's sickening to see the displays of violence and bigotry that were brought to Charlottesville by white nationalists over the last 24 hours, which tragically led to injuries and at least one death today. This is not who we are. Charlottesville is a vibrant community that recognizes the deep scars from our past and has rejected hatred in favor of inclusion.

"The fact that people like David Duke cited the President to justify their views is a disturbing reminder that divisive rhetoric has sadly contributed to a climate where individuals who espouse hate feel emboldened. As they seek publicity through their hateful tactics, let's pull together--regardless of party, race or religion--to reject hatred in no uncertain terms and stand together. I'm encouraged by the words of leaders on both sides of the aisle who have spoken out forcefully against what has occurred today, and it's critical that we follow up those words with action that builds a more inclusive future. We call ourselves a Commonwealth because the word signifies community. It's who we are and we won't go backwards."

Donald Trump's many racism and anti-patriotic sides (ie #TrumpRussia_gate), also includes an inability to demonstrate compassionate leadership.

He should not be learning "many sides" leadership from Governor McAuliffe and Senator Tom Kaine. Rather, Trump must condemn racism and denounce the KuKluxKlan leader, the evil David Duke.

French open doors in response to evil terrorist attack

The French have a resilience to adversity. This resiliency has been inbred in the French for centuries because the nation has been the fulcrum in several European strifes, including World Wars I and II.

In the midst of the fear and turmoil immediately following the November 13, evil terrorist attacks on Paris, many French responded by opening their homes to those who've been stranded as a result of this series of attacks or needed refuge, if they're fearful of being victimized by the perpetrators. 

It's entirely possible the terrorists have other nefarious plans to follow up on their November 13 attacks on Paris.

In The Christian Science Monitor (CSM), in the face of mass tragedy, the French summoned the spirit of community. Coordinated attacks at six sites killed at least 129 people on November 13, putting Paris under siege. Parisians quickly moved to help each other, opening their homes and businesses as shelter.

As the French take stock of a rampage that marked France's most violent night since World War II – with simultaneous suicide bombings and shootings across six sites, including a concert hall, a soccer stadium, a popular restaurant, and a street full of bars and cafes that was packed on a mild November evening – they're vowing to stand together, expressing a communal strength that was on display from the moment the coordinated attacks began, reports CSM, Sara Miller Llana.

#PorteOuverte is the French resilience to fear

Parisians turned to social media to help and be helped. #PorteOuverte, or "Door Open," quickly trended on Twitter in messages like this, from Florian Duretz, who tweeted, “Send me a message for a safe place in Canal Saint Martin, Please be safe.” His message was retweeted 406 times.

French resilience against tryanny, war and terrorism is historic.

Evil terrorists like ISIS cannot achieve their barbaric goals of taking apart civilization as we know it, when the victims respond by building a humanitarian response. Perpetrating evil cannot compete with the unifying impact of a nation that's determined to overcome terrorism. By building community, through #PorteOuverte the French are creating unity and resolve. 

This network of resilience will counter the intentions of the terrorists. Unfortunately, however, the #PorteOuverte will not eliminate the potential for future evil terrorist attacks.

To prevent future terrorist attacks, the world must follow the French resolve to destroy terrorism. We're a world at war with terrorism, with the evil extremism of radican jihadists who created a self declared caliphate for the purpose of killing people, degrading women and creating a midievil world order.

It's going to take more than #PorteOuverte to defeat evil ISIS but the open door movement is certainly an inspiring response to fear.

Evil rampage in Peshawar Pakistan to demoralize entire nation and innocents suffer

Evil Taliban: We Slaughtered 100+ Kids Because Their Parents Helped America. Militants attacked an army-run school in Peshawar claiming the massacre of children is retaliation for U.S.-backed efforts to crush a group that's helped protect Al Qaeda. I suspect this diabolical slaughter is also retaliation against the effectiveness of US led drone strikes against Al Qaeda conducted throughout Pakistan and other places.  

Obviously, Pakistan has been completely ineffective dealing with security in their own nation. Theirs is a failed nation where terrorism grows like germs on a human carcass.

It's a stomach turning sequence of horrors. An evil rampage in Peshawar, Pakistan proves beyond any doubt that the Islamic terrorists must be annhilated soon. Otherwise, Al Qaeda and other radical spin off groups will execute their unbridled heinous slaughters of innocents, without any consideration for the toll their killing takes on civilization. Eventually, unless these attackers are annihilated, they'll continue to build their evil critical mass, like an astrological black hole sucks in energy, until they consume all of us, regardless of where we are.

What else are these disgusting evil doers capable of doing?  

When Islamic Taliban radicals consume innocent children to retaliate against the Pakistan military, what else is left in the evil pot they piss in, as they rampage their gruesome intentions to destroy humanity?

Some Americans have a false sense of protection from this kind of inhumanity. They may feel like our natioal borders protect us from this kind of inhumanity. Those are naive beliefs. We must never forget September 11, 2001, because it can and likely will happen again, in some other, unknown form. That's the reason the Islamic extremists must be annihilated.

Undoubtedly. the victims of terrorism have the most at stake for destroying the perpetrators of the inhuman evil. This violent evil is infecting Islamic nations faster than the Ebola virus is killing innocents in Western Africa. Surely, those who hate terrorists and the horrendous actions they inspire must outnumber those who fall into their evil extremist vortex?  For example, millions of people living in refugee camps in Syria must outnumber those who are protecting evil President Assad in his Damascus, Syrian palace? Certainly, the numbers of innocent people who live in Pakistan outnumber the terrorists. Nevertheless, the extremists are ravaging entire generations and taking their own civilization down with them.  Even the timing of the Peshawar school attacks were deliberate, to coincide with Christian Advent and Christmas. 

Evil works like that.

I don't know how to annihilate Islamic extremists, except to kill them. But, what I do know is this. If these extremist evil doers will stop at absolutely nothing to take down their own civilizations, then we don't want to know what horrors they are creating to kill all the rest of us.

Syrian refugee crises is growing with mortality increasing but the Evil ISIS is consuming news

NPR - Weekend Edition anchor Scott Simon broadcast a radio essay this morning August 30th, succinctly explaining the horror in the Iraqi-Syria horrible upheaval. Simon reports that the evil Islamic State (aka "ISIS") terror threat is growing while 3 million displaced Syrians are living in a morbidity producing environment in refugee camps, because of their nation's humanitarian crisis caused by a brutal war. Syrian refugees aren't receiving enough humanitarian aid. As a result, they are dying by increasing numbers, especially children, as a result of their hopeless displacement. Meanwhile, the evil ISIS movement is producing social media videos showing mass executions while innocent Syrians are hardly mentioned on international media. This Syrian degradation of the human condition is being totally ignored by the world while the Islamic terror state recruits terrorists from all over the world, including from Great Britain and the United States! These two international crises are contributing to an unbelievable upside down world order.  

It makes no sense for men (and who knows, maybe some women OMG! but I hope not) to leave their national origin to join a group of terror nomads. These ISIS fiends are obsessed with creating mayhem, regardless of the consequences to innocent people.

Unfortunately, President Obama gave a less than convincing response to the growing ISIS terror threats during his recent press briefing at the White House. Many are critical of the President's low key statements in response to the ISIS terror, as well as a few who made irresponsibly demeaning comments about the color of his jacket and tie. Nevertheless, none of the self appointed pundits, including Congressman Peter King of New York, can offer an alternative about what to do to oppose threats facing free people in the Middle East including Syria, Iraq and let's include the Russian invasion of the Ukraine, too.

Obviously, there are no strategic responses to terror without risk. Yet, there are opportunities for the world media to emphasize the terror of living in a Syrian refugee camp. Moreover, nations must block the recruitment of ISIS terrorists by restricting travel for anyone who cannot demonstrate a viable reason for travel to the Middle East.

As the evil ISIS network continues to terrorize the Iraqi people, the refugees in Syria are dying while President Assad assaults his own people with unrelenting oppression.

Each day brings more desperation to the world order. Cable news cycles are consumed with polarized pundits, providing advice about how to fight ISIS, like the evil network is an opposing football team, rather than a hate filled terror movement.

In the vacuum of a strategic response to the denigrating world order, including the humanitarian crisis in Syria, the world is literally postponing the inevitable. It's only a matter of time until the ISIS recruits from the US and Great Britain wind up doing harm in our own neighborhoods. It's time for Americans to join Great Britain in support a strategic response to the dangerously changing international world order.

Internet Video and Pervasive Evil

There was a time when international news was about incidents caused by the collisions of government leaders. 

Now, practically anybody can create horrible international incidents with the viral circulation of social media broadcasts. Looking beyond the horrible outrage, spreading throughout the Muslim world about an amateur YouTube video perceived as being anti the Prophet Mohamed, we're told by the Romney campaign that the street riots would not have occurred, if he were president. Really?

Does Romney have a special ability to curtail evil? Of course he doesn't. As a matter of fact, Romney demonstrated his ability to make bad news even worse, through his inappropriate response to Egyptian and Libyan violence, motivated by the evil intended video.

It's impossible to prevent every zealous outburst by narcissistic people, determined to perpetrate evil actions. If Romney has a special ability to identify and eradicate evil, he should have used it to help, rather than harm, the inflamed situation in Libya. Instead, Romney's political ambitions over reacted while violent events were unfolding in Benghazi, Libya, where our American Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans were murdered.

Muslim conflagrations in reaction to the harmful video will subside,  but those who perpetrated the violence must be held accountable. This justice includes the creator of the harmful video, as well as those who murdered American diplomats, a result of it's evil intended social media impact. This international incident is an example of how pervasive evil knows no international borders or religious orientation.  The creator of the anti-Muslim video is just as evil as those who murdered our respected American Ambassador Stevens and his diplomatic colleagues.   

Pervasive international evil can only be rebuffed by enlightened leaders who must "first do no harm" in their response.  Good leaders create calm in the midst of chaos.  President Obama and Secretary Clinton are experts at this calming talent.  Nonetheless, it will take extraordinary restraint and leadership, concurrently, to navigate through the international rapids caused by the wake of the Internet video incident.  Pervasive evil has no magic anecdote. There's no remedy to fix the evils throughout the world.  

Romney's political response to the evil caused by a cheap video is harming, rather than helping, the resulting international situation. 

By doing more harm than good, Romney demonstrates how his leadership style is not compatible with promoting calm during a crises.  At the very least, Romney should call for a national day of grief in response to all the victims of international evil acts. 

President Obama and Secretary Clinton affirmed the horror of the Benghazi killings, showing their grief, broadcast around the world, when the coffins of the four American victims were returned home. They understand how to push back on pervasive evil, by demonstrating dignity and compassion for its innocent victims and calling for justice against the perpetrators of the crimes. They exemplify the quality of leadership our nation needs during increasingly turbulent times, incited by evil.
