Ted Cruz Test: Republicans are Making a Mockery Out of Our Proud American Democracy

Are any Republicans out there who still believe in the majority rule in democracy?  Listen up!  It's time to count votes and eliminate the (a) stupid budget sequester (b) end the stupid government shut down and (c) stupid obstruction of lifting of America's debt ceiling.  
Can Senator Ted Cruz pass this 2 question test?

1.  "No mother would ever willingly sacrifice her sons for territorial gain, for economic advantage, for ideology."

2.  "Leadership is someone who brings people together."

Both of the above quotes were spoken by Republican presidents.

Republicans and House Speaker John Boehner have departed from the Republican Party as we know it.  

Republican Olympia Snowe, former Senator from Maine says today's GOP is not a political party she recognizes anymore. This, from a leader who gave her all for the Republican party but she wasn't "conservative enough" (whatever that means!).

Snowe of Maine says the Republican Party has bowed to extreme elements, making it unrecognizable from the GOP she joined years ago. "Obviously it’s moved to the extremes. I wouldn’t characterize everybody within the tea party movement, but certainly there are broad elements within the party now that are driving their own agenda for their own advantage, irrespective of what implications it has for the Republican Party," Snowe told Ashleigh Banfield on CNN Newsroom. "And certainly, this isn’t a party that I recognize and the party that I joined when I first enrolled, and that’s regrettable."

Senator Snowe is correct, this mess with the economic shutdowns is regrettable but it's also preventable.  Republicans can recall all the misery they are currently causing themselves and the people being harmed by their right wing extremism by simply taking a vote to stop this madness.  In not calling for a vote, House Speaker John Boehner is in denial about the inevitable.  This power struggle is preventable and a majority vote of the House would fix all of it, presto (!) like a finger snap.  

In not taking a simple majority vote, Speaker Boehner is leading a party movement that's making a mockery of democracy for the world to see, like hanging our dirty laundry out for scrutiny.  Nobody wants to see dirty laundry especially when there's soap and water available.  A vote is the soap and water of this horribly ridiculous economic mess created by a Republican minority in Congress who are being puppet controlled by Tea Party right wing extremists.  This extremism must be eradicated.

Senator Tom Cruz should take a cruise. He needs to return to Canada, where he was born, to learn from their Parliamentary

system how a democracy can work, when the will of the people is the goal of government. 

Republicans must be voted out of office as soon as possible, before they so damage our American democracy, until it becomes unrecognizable. Republicans are on the road to dismantling our democracy and we must fire them all for their complete incompetence. ASAP.

President Obama Must Act to Protect the American Economy

US Senate Democrats Propose to Vote to Allow President Obama to Raise Debt Ceiling

Let's hope the Newsmax report will be realized. Inaction on the US debt ceiling will be extremely damaging to our nation. In my opinion, President Obama can do no harm by taking administrative or executive action to move our nation beyond the preventable stalemate currently putting our nation into an economic limbo.  

Senate Democrats could introduce legislation as soon as today that gives President Barack Obama the authority to raise the debt ceiling unless two-thirds of Congress disapproves, according to a Senate Democratic aide.

An initial test vote on the proposal, described by the aide on condition of anonymity, could occur as soon as Oct. 11, just six days before federal borrowing authority is set to expire.
Democrats have been pressing for a one-year increase in the nation’s $16.7 trillion debt ceiling without any of the spending cuts of policy changes Republicans are demanding.

The method of giving Obama the authority to raise the debt ceiling barring a congressional disapproval was first proposed by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, in 2011 and became part of the Budget Control Act passed in August of that year.

Republican extremists obstructing President Obama on every initiative need to recall their mother's proverb, "What goes around comes around". 

It makes virtually no sense for Republicans to continue holding America hostage to their extremist agenda by refusing to lift the budget sequester and repealing the #shutdown. 

Eventually, the political pendulum will ultimately swing to the equal and opposite direction and the obstructionist cycle will become self perpetrating.  

President Obama must take action to protect all future presidents from extremist agendas. He must act to protect the American economy by figuring out how to take charge of raising our nation's debt ceiling, in spite of the Congress. By taking decisive action, he will also protect future presidents from becoming victims of political hostage taking.  

President Obama Must Act Against Republican Extremism

Republicans can't possibly care about people. If they cared about people, they'd immediately stop obstructing progressive policies and begin to recommend some creative ideas to help the middle class.

Instead, right wing Republicans are consumed with a misguided ideology, driven by radicalism rather than humanism. They're paranoid about the role of government and stuck in conservative trench warfare against immigration reform, tax reform, health care reform, Second Amendment gun reform and entitlement reform.

While a Republican driven government shutdown looms, middle class Americans are watching our 401 K portfolios shrink while the stock market tries to figure out the fiscal uncertainty. Furthermore, we're worried about how the negative impact of a government shutdown will interfere with earned Social Security and Veterans Benefits. There's absolutely no need for this anguish. Our US government has plenty of money plus the ability to generate more cash through revenue sharing aka "tax reform".  Blogger DC Coder writes, "If Congress fails to fund the federal government by Oct. 1, the start of the new fiscal year, the government will go into partial shutdown. Some government functions – those deemed essential – will continue as usual, while others will be suspended. If a shutdown proceeds the way it would have in 2011 (had the last funding impasse had not been resolved in time), 800,000 of 2.1 million federal employees would be furloughed."

What don't Republicans "get" about the severity of this doomsday scenario? We're already dealing with the consequences of the stupid fiscal sequester. It's sincerely not fair to impose more hardship on Americans by shutting down government because Republicans want to cause trouble.

President Obama's intervention is essential to stop this extremism. Americans need leadership to guide us out of the polarized trenches being defended by radical extremists. Somebody must put an end to this consistent Republican obsession with government obstruction.  

Apparently, Republicans need education about how democracy works. It's like this - the person with the most votes wins the elections. Like, in 2012, President Obama and the Democrats won, because they received the majority of votes. 

But, Republicans also need to know how those who loose elections always have a chance to try to win at another time. Winning at another time means bringing forth good alternative ideas. Republicans don't have any.

Republicans seem to believe democracy only works when they win the elections. In their delusional logic, they're the only party entitled to reap the privilege of living in a Democratic government.

If Republicans sincerely understood democracy, they'd create fresh ideas to present to the American people, so they could plan to win more votes for their policies in the upcoming elections. Republicans aren't likely to win a majority of votes in future national elections while they continue to obstruct government without offering solutions to problems, other than to shut down the government.

Meanwhile, President Obama must animate his resistance to spiraling and out of control Republican obstructionism. 

Rather than soft speeches and beautiful logic, President Obama must tell Republicans how unpatriotic it is to not supporting the Federal Law passed in Obamacare and upheld as Constitutional by the US Supreme Court. He must tell Republicans how dumb it is not to raise the debt ceiling, because the money needed has already been appropriated. Holding the debt ceiling hostage to budget negotiations is like charging on a credit card to buy Christmas gifts, but not paying the bill when the invoice comes due. It's dumb.

Republican extremism must be stopped. Americans need leadership to educate voters about the value of progressive government and the dangers of continued obstructionism. 

Moreover, President Obama must take action to deliver on his campaign promise to fight for the middle class. Where is that Obama, the 2012 presidential candidate? We need him ASAP.

Republicans and the Government Debt Ceiling - American People at Risk Again

Republicans have abdicated their responsibility as political leaders and their ability to be American statesmen- meaning, they're no longer capable to manage our government. Let's stop paying them!

After experiencing a decisive 2012 election defeat, with a majority of voters going for Democratic candidates, and following a grueling negotiation over the "fiscal cliff", where taxes were finally raised on American millionaires and billionaires, Republicans, nevertheless, want to hold our economy hostage to yet another uncessary fiscal fight.  Right Wing Republicans insist they won't pay bills they incurred, by refusing to increase the nation's debt ceiling. In other words, while our US Congress approves all appropriations, they don't want to pay those bills because the Republicans see this moment as a political opportunity to create more fiscal angst for average Americans.  

Republicans are holding average Americans hostage because they want to cut the cost of government, regardless of who gets harmed. If Congress refuses to raise the debt ceiling, the government can't pay bills owed to Social Security beneficiaries and government salaries, plus numerous other bills already encumbered by Congress.  

When Republicans overeach in their goal to cut government, they're raising the ire of average and middle class Americans who earned the benefits and salaries the GOP claim to want to cut. Their obstructionist behavior will be addressed in 2014, when we have another chance to replace them in the ballot box.

Clearly, Republicans have lost their moral compass.  By refusing to show political leadership, by balking at compromising in fiscal negotiations, they put middle class people in positions of economic uncertainty, while they continue collecting government salaries and generous tax payer paid benefits.

It's time Republican lawmakers face uncertainty about their own salaries while they continue holding the US economy hostage, just because "they can". 

Republicans in Congress should not receive a salary while they hold everybody else's economy hostage, just to force their extremist austerity agenda.

Let's lower the Republicans debt ceiling by cutting their salaries until they demonstrate leadership and political statesmenship.

Defense of the Future - Cut The Past

When Congress looks to cut federal expenses, lets teach them to protect the future. 
Americans are facing yet another round of nail biting political haranguing about how to reduce the nation's growing deficit. We just experienced a dramatic deal whereby the middle class were spared tax increases at a time when we're all climbing out of a recession. 

But a tax deal isn't a budget.

Attempting to balance the federal budget leaves virtually no easy choices to help close the cavernous divide between income and revenue. As Congress looks to lift the nation's debt borrowing ceiling, the right wing Republicans see another deadline looming whereby they can, once again, play political games rather than practice statesmanship.

There's a way out of these roulette wheel budget negotiations. It's called leadership.
For example, future defense expenditures will not involve expensive tanks and transport vehicles. Rather, our future defense will be more like Science Fiction. It should, also, be less costly than what we pay for today.
In fact, the future of defense is "now". National security threats Americans face are cyberattacks on national telecommunications and electronic systems, or sabotage on poorly secured nuclear weapons components stored throughout the world. Terrorist attacks can occur virtually anywhere, as the massacre at Fort Hood in Texas, perpetrated by a Muslim physician sympathizer, is one horribly recent example. 

A retired army Colonel living in North Carolina says "None of these (moidern) threats require the type and amount of weapons systems the defense industry and its lobbyists insist we need." 
Moreover, the retired Colonel says that our nation can be helped to return to a vibrant economy by reducing defense spending and putting the money, instead, into significant improvements in our nation's education systems at all levels.

Congress should stop creating drama with every budget deadline. Instead, Congress should pay for a future without spending on huge defense contracts, that pad the margins of companies producing outdated technologies. Instead, Congress should cut the past and spend the future. Investments in education will create highly skilled workers who will protect our nation's quality of life, while growing our economy through reinvestment, by becoming prosperous citizens.

Meanwhile, our national debt ceiling should not be a bargaining chip for partisans who must, as leaders, create a budget. Leadership requires common sense solutions. It makes no sense to play games with our nation's important fiscal issues, especially, when many solutions are self evident and, perhaps, even proactive.
