Ted Cruz Test: Republicans are Making a Mockery Out of Our Proud American Democracy

Are any Republicans out there who still believe in the majority rule in democracy?  Listen up!  It's time to count votes and eliminate the (a) stupid budget sequester (b) end the stupid government shut down and (c) stupid obstruction of lifting of America's debt ceiling.  
Can Senator Ted Cruz pass this 2 question test?  
Who said the following?

1.  "No mother would ever willingly sacrifice her sons for territorial gain, for economic advantage, for ideology."

2.  "Leadership is someone who brings people together."

Both of the above quotes were spoken by Republican presidents.

Republicans and House Speaker John Boehner have departed from the Republican Party as we know it.  

Republican Olympia Snowe, former Senator from Maine says today's GOP is not a political party she recognizes anymore. This, from a leader who gave her all for the Republican party but she wasn't "conservative enough" (whatever that means!).

Snowe of Maine says the Republican Party has bowed to extreme elements, making it unrecognizable from the GOP she joined years ago. "Obviously it’s moved to the extremes. I wouldn’t characterize everybody within the tea party movement, but certainly there are broad elements within the party now that are driving their own agenda for their own advantage, irrespective of what implications it has for the Republican Party," Snowe told Ashleigh Banfield on CNN Newsroom. "And certainly, this isn’t a party that I recognize and the party that I joined when I first enrolled, and that’s regrettable."

Senator Snowe is correct, this mess with the economic shutdowns is regrettable but it's also preventable.  Republicans can recall all the misery they are currently causing themselves and the people being harmed by their right wing extremism by simply taking a vote to stop this madness.  In not calling for a vote, House Speaker John Boehner is in denial about the inevitable.  This power struggle is preventable and a majority vote of the House would fix all of it, presto (!) like a finger snap.  

In not taking a simple majority vote, Speaker Boehner is leading a party movement that's making a mockery of democracy for the world to see, like hanging our dirty laundry out for scrutiny.  Nobody wants to see dirty laundry especially when there's soap and water available.  A vote is the soap and water of this horribly ridiculous economic mess created by a Republican minority in Congress who are being puppet controlled by Tea Party right wing extremists.  This extremism must be eradicated.

Senator Tom Cruz should take a cruise. He needs to return to Canada, where he was born, to learn from their Parliamentary

system how a democracy can work, when the will of the people is the goal of government. 

Republicans must be voted out of office as soon as possible, before they so damage our American democracy, until it becomes unrecognizable. Republicans are on the road to dismantling our democracy and we must fire them all for their complete incompetence. ASAP.

Extremist Republicans Must Tell Their Right Wing Constituents to Fly

There comes a point in all standoffs where one side or the other finally realizes the futility of their cause. A standoff resolution, typically, has little to do with who is right or wrong but, rather, coming to a realization that the juice isn't worth the squeeze, anymore. In the current Washington DC Congressional standoff, Republicans are "squeezing away" with anguish about the October 1st implementation of Obamacare. They think shutting down the government, like a child holding its breath, will get them their way, just because they don't like the health care reform law.  

Hopefully, Republicans might be running out of juice, because polls report that Americans do not want the government to shut down to prevent Obamacare from being implemented.

NPR reports a new poll released Tuesday shows that a clear majority of Americans want Congress to keep the federal government operating and deal with President Obama's health care law separately. It makes good sense to create legislation to expedite and move forward with providing Americans access to affordable health insurance. On the other hand, it makes no sense, whatsoever, to postpone or prevent Obamacare from taking effect. If something is wrong with the law, then fix it; but, don't hold the government hostage because a minority of people don't like some of it.

According to a United Technologies/National Journal poll taken Sept. 19-22, 63 percent of respondents — and 51 percent of Republicans — said Congress should provide the funding necessary to keep the government open, rather than shut it down in an attempt to defund Obamacare.
In other words, right wing Republicans are wasting time and money trying to break up the federal health care reform law - the Affordable Care Act aka "Obamacare". These minority politicians are relentlessly engaged in a futile quest. Instead of doing the job Americans sent Congressional lawmakers to Washington DC to do, right wingers have become marionettes to Tea Party extremists. 

It's sincerely time for right wing extremists to take flight. They must end their siege on Congress. Lawmakers must do their job without the undue influence of ideologues, who are driven like suicidal lemmings, to shut down government.

In fact 51 percent of Republicans don't even agree with the extremist position of shutting down government to unfund Obamacare. (In my opinion, shutting down the US government for any reason should be unconstitutional.)  

Therefore, right wingers like House Speaker John Boehner and Texas Senator Ted Cruz must inform their right wing handlers that the budget standoff must be resolved. They need to let go of their demands to unfund Obamacare.

It's time right wingers take flight and lift off the backs of Congress, so that government can get back to caring about the needs of the majority of Americans. It's middle class Americans, by the way, who pay the salaries, and health insurance benefits for those in Congress who are causing this unnecessary and wasteful obstruction. Boehner, and Cruz must be lifted out of office and forced to seek real jobs, where they will be in a position to pay for their own health insurance. 

This current stupid stand off over Obamacare should cause enough political turbulence to launch right wing politicians out of Congress in the next election, if not sooner.

Inevitably, right wing extremists will eventually run out of juice and so will the radical voters who control them.

Ted Cruz Needs to Take a Cruise Using His Own Money - Stop Wasting Taxpayer Time and Money

When Ted Cruz talks to the empty seats in the Congress, does his noise get heard?  Regardless of who is listening (or not) he is taking up the oxygen in the room while wasting taxpayer time and money.

A fellow blogger named The Progressive Professor posted this worthy information about Strom Thurmond:

The Senate filibuster was once used, years ago, to prevent civil rights legislation, with South Carolina Senator Strom Thurmond becoming infamous for the longest individual filibuster in Senate history in 1957 on that subject. Thurmond doesn't look very good in history due to his prejudiced, narrow minded stand on that topic.

Senator Rand Paul used the filibuster tactic months ago to protest drone policy on foreign soil, and a crazy fear that drones would be used against Americans on domestic soil.  (Insert Maine Writer:  Moreover, we don't know how many American lives have been saved with drone technology - read No Easy Day by pseudonym Mark Owen)

And Senator Ted Cruz is...using the filibuster to attempt to destroy ObamaCare, denying millions of Americans the opportunity to have decent health care.  (....all the while, 26 percent of his Texas constituents do not have health insurance....)

Neither Paul from months ago, and Cruz today, will change American policy, as the President will use drones only overseas, as a measure of defense and security policy against terrorists, including Americans who fight for the enemy; and ObamaCare will proceed, no matter what Cruz says or does.

(As a matter of fact, popular provisions in the Obamacare law are already operational!  We can't undo what's already in place.)

But in the process, only the loonies on the extreme right will rally to either Paul or Cruz, and the Tea Party movement may have impact in the House of Representatives and with a few Senators, but both men are self destructing before our eyes by their own words and actions! If the GOP is nuts enough to nominate either of these characters for President, they will get what they deserve, a walloping defeat in 2016!  (Here!  Here! I totally agree!)

Maine Writer- Ted Cruz needs to stop wasting tax payer money. Give him a meager severance (sell some of his Senate office furniture to pay for it) and send him on a cruise. Sail him away from those of us trying to move our nation forward with progressive policies, consistent with other civilized world nations who provide health coverage for their citizens.

Conservative Political Action Conference - Stale, Moss Covered, Exclusive and Loosing Ground

....minority populations grew 30 percent while white population grew at 1 (one) percent....

Conservatives gathered in National Harbor, Maryland for their annual flock of look alikes called the Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC.  In so doing, they publicly pulled the scabs off of the painful wounds of their two past Presidential election losses. A speakers line up of mostly white males, Sarah Palin notwithstanding, mourned in a chorus of self analysis. But, rather than inspire, they spoke like astrologers who predict the future by telling us about the past. They seemed to explain how their stars weren't aligned with the changing demographics of the American voters. They retro-predicted how they should've been more aware of outreach efforts, they should've been more inclusive and open to diversity. But, they didn't inspire confidence that anything will change.  Their political "future" was, instead, a retro-analysis. Perhaps, they would've instilled more confidence about change if they had invited a conservative conclave of astrologers to speak. Unfortunately, they didn't even dare invite one of their own, Governor Chris Christie, a Republican with populist appeal.

Instead, the CPAC keynote speaker was Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who believes communists have infiltrated Harvard Law School.  

Linda Feldman writes in the Christian Science Monitor that the CPAC audience was largely youthful. There again, the CPAC audience wasn't representative of the electorate, who are, actually, "older" and ethnically diverse.

In fact, data from the 2010 census show the minority population in the United States increased over the last decade by 30 percent (Hispanics by 43 percent), while the white population grew 1 (one) percent. The dramatic difference in growth rates means communities of color accounted for 92 percent of the U.S. population growth between 2000 and 2010. The 2010 minority share of the population was 36 percent, up more than 5 percentage points from 2000.

Those figures suggest the share of minority voters were about 28 percent in 2012, up from 26 percent in 2008. 

Exit poll data, collected in the 2008 and 2010 elections, suggest minority voting is increasing more quickly than minority population growth. A Pew Research poll predicts the Hispanic voters will double by 2030.

Ronald Brownstein writes in the National Journal how the American electorate  is changing and won't go back to being white and middle class.

So, the CPAC convention left Americans with the following take-away messages:

1.  Republicans can't seem to change their conversation about being old, stale, white and exclusive.
2.  Republicans continue to lick the wounds of past losses rather than shine a light on how to attract young, diverse, vibrant, intelligent and inclusive voters.
3.  Republicans need an intelligent leader, someone who will convincingly embrace the changing face America's voters.

CPAC cannot survive as a conclave of political astrologers.
