Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel on Sunday called out former President Donald Trump after Trump took to social media to insult Kimmel.

"Trump just keeps walking into traps": Morning Joe buries Trump for latest humiliation. Kimmel read out Trump’s Truth Social post live from the Oscars stage just before the last award of the night was presented for best picture.

After sharing clips of "kitchen lady" Senator Katie Britt's widely mocked State of the Union response and the corresponding parody of the Alabama Republican's speech on Saturday Night Live, the hosts of "Morning Joe" focused on Donald Trump's latest humiliation when he went to war with comedian Jimmy Kimmel late Sunday night.

According to co-host Joe Scarborough, the former president's old tricks are blowing up in his face these days, after he used his Truth Social platform to attack Kimmel's hosting performance during the Oscars ceremony.

After Trump sneered at Kimmel by writing, "His opening was that of a less than average person trying to be something that he is not and never can be. Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed-up but cheap ABC talent, George Slopanopoulos," Kimmel returned fire by reading the post live on-air and then adding, "Well, thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching, I'm surprised you're still — isn't it past your jail time?"

That in turn led to uproarious laughter from the Hollywood crowd and immediately made headlines, with Trump having no way to quickly respond with the same kind of reach.

As Joe Scarborough pointed out, the former president set himself up to fail. 😜😒😏 

"That's the thing, he just doesn't — I guess he doesn't understand," the MSNBC host explained. "He just keeps walking into traps. 

Trump acts old, he keeps — again, you know, it's like an old fighter that's past his prime. The things that may have worked, that may have been disruptive six, seven, you know, 2016, everybody knows what's coming."

"He's the butt of the joke for millions of people last night," he added.

Trump is 'degenerating' into 'something far uglier' than we've seen before: CNN analyst by Brad Reed

The former guy Donald Trump kicked off his political career by slandering Mexican immigrants as drug dealers and rapists -- but CNN political analyst John Avlon thinks that Trump has gotten even worse ever since giving that infamous 2015, speech in Trump Tower.

While talking about Trump's recent remarks comparing his political opponents to "vermin," Avlon warned that Trump's rhetoric has only grown darker and more ominous over the years.

"I think the problem is that Trump is degenerating into something before our eyes that is far uglier and more dangerous historically than what we have dealt with in the past," he said. "It's not just the rhetoric that's authoritarian in this case, it's the policies that he's proposing. It's the threats and the vengeance."

Avlon went on to argue that "we should all be very cautious about Nazi parallels," but he added that Trump makes it impossible to avoid when he uses "exactly the language of Hitler and Mussolini" to describe his foes.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has a lot of ERCOT electric capaciy etxplaining to do

ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas 😕😆 ) said there was "high potential" for emergency operations, which in a worst-case scenario, involves the implementation of rolling power outages.  

(Maine Writer- to summarize what's wrong with the Abbott-ERCOT political bond, think monopoly. ERCOT has a monopoly on its customers (although El Paso is exempt) and Abbott thinks the failed electric utility is keeping the government regulators out of Texas.  Monopolies typically lead to corruption driven by greed and blocking US government oversight of the ERCOT failed electric grid is causing harm to average Texans, who have nowhere to go for their energy needs. The citizens are stuck with what Abbott has given to ERCOT. Oddly enough, because Texas is anti-government regulators, the freedom from oversight  allowed alternative energy generators to prosper! Of course, that outcome was never Abbott's intention, so he doesn't talk much about this alternative.)

People in Texas are once again being told to prepare for rolling blackouts, prompting criticism of the state's governor, Greg Abbott, Newsweek reported.

Texans were asked on Thursday to cut down on their energy usage as experts said the high demand for power in the extreme heat could cause problem with the state's power grid.

"Avoiding the reach of federal regulators, Texas has long operated on a lone grid that is separated from the rest of the country," Newsweek's report stated. "Although the state has been able to remain exempt from federal rules, its power grid has run into issues being disconnected from the nation's other grids, meaning Texas cannot access power from other states, even in times of emergency."

Texans took to social media to slam Abbott.

"Greg Abbott has turned Texas into a developing country, routinely worried about rolling blackouts," Karthik Soora, a candidate for Texas' state Senate, wrote on X.

"Texas Republicans have been too busy banning abortions, attacking trans kids, and banning books by Black authors in schools to fix the electric grid," wrote Rebecca Marques, who runs the progressive media company Texas Signal.

While the extreme weather becomes a more frequent occurrence, the Texas grid has repeatedly become strained by heat and storms. Each time, Abbott has drawn outrage from residents who have urged him to act to prevent chaos over future energy problems.

Attorney Sara Spector posted on X: "Breaking: just got alert in TX that our energy grid is failing ! Great job Greg Abbott on fixing that grid!" alongside a caption of the ERCOT warning.

Evangelicals are suckered by con man Donald Trump and at least a few are speaking out

In a blunt-talking column published by the Charlotte Observer, a lifelong Evangelical expressed dismay that Christians have been taken in by Donald Trump who could not be less like Jesus Christ.

According to Isaac Bailey, Christians who are still standing by the former guy president, despite his record of criminality and incitements to violence, need to "wake up" and realize they have been suckered by a con man who has been preying on them since he was first elected in 2016.

With that in mind, he continued, "It’s why they view every Trump indictment not as democracy working as intended, upholding the principle that no man is above the law, but as akin to a lash from a Roman soldier’s whip on Jesus’ back. I wish it weren’t true. But it is."

Using the case of Edgar Maddison Welch, who showed up at a "Washington, D.C., pizza parlor, convinced he had to save children from an imaginary satanic child sex ring funded and operated by Democrats," while armed with an AR-15 "only to realize too late he had been taken in by a hoax. He was sentenced to four years in prison," as an example, Bailey said that should be lesson to all Christians who have fallen under Trump's cult spell.

Monty, who's raised more than $1 million for the GOP, said he watched the Capitol riot and cried.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, one of President Donald Trump's key allies, joined U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine — a Democrat who was Hillary Clinton's running mate in 2016 — at a bipartisan-spirited event at the University of Louisville on Monday.

The Virginia senator came to Louisville as part of the McConnell Center's Distinguished Speaker Series. University of Louisville President Neeli Bendapudi took a moment to praise the center, which was founded 1991, for providing scholarships to students at McConnell's alma mater who hold varied political beliefs but share a desire to make a difference in their communities.

McConnell introduced Kaine to the crowd but was briefly interrupted by a group of about 10 people who stood up and protested the Republican leader.

"We are constituents," announced one of the people protesting, who also called McConnell out for accepting money from the fossil fuel industry.

Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., called out President Donald Trump on Friday for vulgar comments he reportedly made about Haitians, Salvadorans and immigrants from African "sh**hole countries" during a meeting about immigration with lawmakers in the Oval Office on Thursday.

Waters said it was upon Congress to "impeach him without delay," The Hill reported Friday.

"No longer can Members of Congress, particularly Republicans, stand with such a dangerous, disturbed, and deceitful man who is a threat to everything for which America, the greatest democracy on earth, stands," Waters said in a statement. "Congress has a constitutional responsibility to impeach him without delay."

"Donald Trump is a racist and indecent man with no good values who is woefully unfit and undeserving of the office in which he serves. That this president, a deeply flawed human being with no understanding of public policy, would make such ill-informed and deplorable comments about Haitians, Salvadorans, and immigrants from African countries, merely underscores everything we already know about him: he is a hopeless and ignorant bigot," Waters' statement read.

She also said that Trump's "racist comment and divisive tactics" showed he was a "hopeless liar."

Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, on Friday pledged to bring forward a vote on the House floor calling for Trump's impeachment. 

Green also forced a procedural vote in the House on his articles of impeachment last month which ultimately failed, the Hill also reported.

In a tweet on Friday, Trump said the language he used was "tough," but maintained the vulgar comments attributed to him were "not the language used."

“I have called him what I know him to be for a long time,” Rep. Waters replied. “Remember some time ago I called him a scumbag. I’ve called him a racist. Deplorable. Despicable.”

“Added to what others are calling him, a moron, ignorant, on and on and on,” Rep. Waters reminded.

“The United States of America is represented by the most despicable human being that could possibly ever walk the earth,” Waters suggested.

“What more do we need to see or hear from this racist man?” Rep. Waters asked. “And for all of those Republicans on the other side who stand with him, who claimed to have been patriotic, they are not patriotic. They are weaklings with not the guts to stand up, or they join him as racists.”

“And so, I have known this, and I’ve called for his impeachment over and over again,” Rep. Waters reminded.

“This man has obstructed justice right before our very eyes,” Waters charged. “I simply believe that not only has he colluded, and of course he has obstructed justice, but his character is such that the United States and the citizens of this country, rather, should not be willing to tolerate.”

Reid also asked about Speaker Paul Ryan’s comments about President.

“Well, evidently he is not a real leader,” Waters concluded. “And I wish I could say he didn’t have the courage of his convictions, because I don’t know if he has any.”

“But I know this: history will not be kind to him, to these Republicans, and to those who are basically standing by him, embracing him. As far as I’m concerned, they’re confirming that they’re just as bad as he is,” Waters explained. “He’s not doing his job, we need to get rid of him also.”

Reid also asked if Congresswoman Waters would be attending Trump’s State of the Union address.
“Oh no. You know, I didn’t go to the inauguration, I didn’t go to the joint-session that was held after that,” Congresswoman Waters replied. “I don’t intend to go to this one.”

“What does he have to say that I would be interested in? I don’t trust him, I don’t appreciate him and I wouldn’t waste my time sitting in that house listening to what he has to say,” Waters explained. “He does not deserve my attention.”
