Donald Trump nominates an incompetent cabinet without reqirement for background check? But many nominees are unqualified.

Some of Donald Trump’s nominees are real (loooosssy❗) doozies. The Senate must publicly vet them via thorough background checks, committee hearings, and floor votes.

Senate Republicans must be thanking their lucky stars that former representative Matt Gaetz withdrew last week as President-elect Donald Trump’s choice to be attorney general. 

In doing so, Gaetz rescued the Republicans, who will take control of the Senate early in January, from having to oppose his nomination and thereby incur Trump’s assured wrath.

That rejecting Gaetz might have seemed a profile in courage says much about the state of Republican politics today: He was among the least qualified nominees to run the Justice Department in memory and had been one of the most scandal-scarred and disliked men in Congress before he resigned earlier this month. One of his staunchest defenders was former representative George Santos, who was expelled from the House last year as an ethical embarrassment.

Now comes the truly hard part. More than two dozen Trump Cabinet secretaries and other top administration officials will require Senate confirmation early next year, and some of them are (looooossy❗) oozies. For the integrity of their own institution and the good of the nation, the Senate must not simply rubber stamp them all, as Trump and his most vocal supports will demand.

This process must begin by not acceding to Trump’s suggestion that he should be allowed to choose his Cabinet through so-called recess appointments, which would circumvent the gauntlet of Senate approval. The Senate must instead move with dispatch to publicly vet all of Trump’s nominees via thorough background checks, committee hearings, and floor votes.

Though he would be the last to admit it, Trump himself would benefit if his most dubious nominees were forced to answer hard questions about possible ethical issues and policy positions. They should show competence beyond the ability to please a Fox News audience. If nothing else, the process might save him from his own worst impulses.

So where to begin? Start with former representative Tulsi Gabbard, a onetime Democrat turned Bernie Sanders independent turned MAGA enthusiast, who is Trump’s choice to be director of national intelligence. The job entails overseeing the 18 agencies that collect and analyze information from human spies, satellites, and other foreign and domestic surveillance sources. The DNI is the chief intelligence adviser to the president and his national security leadership, the keeper of the nation’s most classified secrets.

Gabbard is justifiably criticized for her lack of experience (and incompetence❗)  in intelligence policy, beyond her service in the Army National Guard. 

But, far more troubling is her bizarre coziness with President Vladimir Putin of Russia and the Syrian dictator, Bashar al-Assad.

After Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, Gabbard blamed the United States for provoking the aggression, an absurd apology for Putin’s unsubtle expansionist ambitions. And during the Syrian civil war, she accused the United States of supporting terrorists there, even as Assad — an avowed ally of not just Russia but also Iran — was massacring his own citizens. It should come as no surprise that Rossiya-1, a Russian state television channel, called her a Russian “comrade.”

Next up is Pete Hegseth, Trump’s nominee for secretary of defense. Though he has little experience managing a large organization, he did serve with the Army National Guard,  in Iraq and Afghanistan. Of greater concern: He is accused by an unnamed woman of rape during a Republican event in 2017; he asserts he had consensual sex with her. Democrats can be counted on to question Hegseth about this accusation.

But,  Republicans must also look hard at Hegseth’s policy statements, including his vigorous defense of troops accused or convicted of war crimes; his opposition to women serving in combat, though they have been for years; and his being a hyper-partisan Trump loyalist who seems eager to politicize the armed services. The latter would be a dire subversion of t  US military’s long tradition of nonpartisanship.

And then there is Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s  (incompetent) pick to run the Department of Health and Human Services. The sprawling agency is nearly as large as the Pentagon and oversees the Food and Drug Administration, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the National Institutes of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

For all his support for quack theories, Kennedy has called for improving the nation’s diet. But his obsessive and scientifically refuted skepticism about vaccines is deeply alarming, given the clear benefits of inoculations against not just COVID-19, measles, and the flu, but also once-deadly diseases that have been nearly eradicated, like polio. (HELLO❓ But, wait, wait❗ What about the hypocritical picture taken with RFKjr eating a MacDonald's hamburger with his new master the 😡cult leader DJT❓)

The department not only delivers crucial health care funding to individuals and institutions, it also helps direct the nation’s medical research. At the very least, the Senate must closely interrogate his views on the research and development of potentially life-saving vaccines and other curative treatments.

No one should be surprised if Senate Republicans assist Trump in pursuing his (incompetent) policy agenda, whether sharply reducing immigration, shrinking the regulatory state, reducing US military commitments, opposing Chinese expansionism, reinvigorating domestic manufacturing, or cutting taxes  (for the rich).

If ever there were a magistrate in need of restraint, it is Donald Trump. Who among the Senate Republicans will stand for the good of the nation and integrity of the Senate itself against blind loyalty to the (tryant) president?

What the Senate should vigorously oppose are Trump’s worst inclinations toward retribution and overreach😥😞. Never mind that the nation’s security will be threatened by corrupt, hyper-politicized, or incompetent oversight of the military and intelligence agencies. Trump’s own MAGA base will be among the first to be hurt if the nation’s health care system is shipwrecked by bumbling leadership.

In Federalist No. 76, Alexander Hamilton argued that the great benefit of requiring Senate approval of top administration jobs was to prevent “the appointment of unfit characters.” He added: “The necessity of its co-operation, in the business of appointments, will be a considerable and salutary restraint upon the conduct of that magistrate.”

European missing refugee children

(Americans are unfavorably reported in this article but the author, Petra Stuiber, is projecting blame for this crises of missing children....the blame is at the soul of Syria's President Bahsar al-Assad!)

Syria's evil President Bashar al-Assad is responsible for the humanitarian crises and exodus of  tens of thousands of his people including many thousands of children.

Petra Stuiber reports, as though the humanitarian disaster in Syria, Greece and Europe couldn't get any worse, the news about missing children, who should be among the refugees, are causing more concerns about the risk of human trafficking.  (Many of these missing children cannot be counted among the refugees.)

Austria is failing refugee children, said Petra Stuiber. Europol, the European police agency, has announced that about 10,000 unaccompanied migrant children have "gone missing" since arriving in Europe.

In fact, the agency says that most of these kids are probably with relatives and simply failed to register with authorities. Nevertheless, the rest of them, perhaps thousands, could be in the hands of human traffickers, pimps, or pedophiles. These children "have have already endured terrible things and are now maybe experiencing still more." All of us must look for these children. We must assume that they are living among us, "under our very eyes". Every one that is found must be protecced from sexual or other abuse. Sadly, such protections are often lacking for unaccompanied migrant children who are placed in asylum centers. These over crowded shelters lack privacy and security, and often there aren't enough segregated showers or other facilities for girls.  Worse still, afger reports of sexual assaults by  young migrant men in Germany and elsewhere, mayors in many American towns are stubbornly refusing to offer accomodations to unaccompanied teenage refugees. Don't they know that a 16-year-oldd Afghan boy "could be defenseless against exploitation and abuse"?  Apparantly, "only American women and girls are seen as worthy of protection."

An Axis of Evil Refresher - North Korea is still in the trio

It was President George W. Bush (43) who created the "Axis of Evil", label by trying to awaken Americans to the dangers posed by the triumverate nations and their leaders in Iran, Iraq and North Korea. Since Bush identified this trio, Iraq has been invaded and is re-occupied by some US troops and Iran has become a lukewarm ally. Therefore, the Evil Axis trio must be refreshed. Tragically, the triumvirate today is even worse than the trio Bush described.

Kim Jong-un is the epitomy of the Axis of evil, using sheer terror to rule like a diabolic maniac over North Korea

Today's Axis of evil is led by Kim Jong-un, the lunatic president of North Korea. He's a monster of an man who is has become as close to being a weirwolf as any human has ever known. 

President al-Assad is the second angle in the evil triangle.

North Korea's bizzare leader rules by using sheer terror over his own people. Equalled with the weirwolf is Bashar al-Assad, the evil president of Syria. This diabolic man has caused tens of thousands of Syrians to flee their homes because of the carnage, death and destruction Assad showered on his own people, without justifiable reason. 

Completing the Axis triangle is Vladimir Putin, who is president and perhaps the newest Czar of Russia. There's little doubt about Putin's ambitions to somehow rule the world according to him. In my opinion, if Putin's Russia had the money to do it, he would sign Kim Jong-un and al-Asssad to a blood pact to conspire for world dominance. He'd bribe both of them until he didn't need them anymore in which case they would likely be fed tea tainted with plutonium.

Vladimir Putin is the king-pin of the Axis of Evil. If Russia's currency could sustain his evil ambitions, it's likely Putin would engage in even more international agression.

Probably, the curret low cost of world oil is further tanking the worthless Russian ruble (just like it's hitting hard at the stock market). 

Possibly, if the long term purpose of the world's current oil glut is to take down Russia's economy, then the sacrifices made by small Wall Street investors might be the price we all pay to pull the rug out from Putin's evil expansionist ambitions.

Syrian humanitarian genocide by Assad over his own people is now estimated to have taken 470,000 lives or 11.5 percent of the nation's people.  The Guardian reports from the Syrian Centre for Policy Research, that human development in Syria has been ruined after 45% of the nation's population has been displaced.

Syria’s national wealth, infrastructure and institutions have been “almost obliterated” by the “catastrophic impact” of nearly five years of conflict, a new report has found. Fatalities caused by war, directly and indirectly, amount to 470,000, according to the Syrian Centre for Policy Research (SCPR) – a far higher total than the figure of 250,000 used by the United Nations until it stopped collecting statistics 18 months ago.

In all, 11.5% of the country’s population have been killed or injured since the crisis erupted in March 2011, the report estimates. The number of wounded is put at 1.9 million. Life expectancy has dropped from 70 in 2010 to 55.4 in 2015. Overall economic losses are estimated at $255bn (£175bn).

A devastating and stark account of the Syria's war’s toll came as warnings multiplied about Aleppo, Syria’s largest city, is in danger of being cut off by a government advance aided by Russian airstrikes and Iranian militiamen. The Syrian opposition is demanding urgent action to relieve the suffering of tens of thousands of civilians.

The International Red Cross said on Wednesday that 50,000 people had fled the upsurge in fighting in the north, requiring urgent deliveries of food and water. Obviously, Russia is supporting Assad under the cover of providing relief for the Syrian people but the alternative motive is to control the outcome of the war. This humanitarian carnage won't likely be resolved in any of our lifetimes, because generations of misplaced and murdered people will eventually have their horror stories revealed with demands for justified reparations.

Kim Jung-up in North Korea is causing his own unimaginable carnage. In fact, rumors of a coup by the North Korean army against Jung-un was reported, especially since a senior North Korean military leader was executed for "factionalism, misuse of authority and corruption," reports CNN, from a South Korean government official with knowledge of North Korean affairs.

The official, who spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity, declined to give further details on how or when General Ri Yong-gil, chief of the North Korean Army's general staff, was executed.

What does this Axis of Evil mean for Americans? Well, to me it looks like the future of civilization as we know it is at a crossroad.

Therefore, as the US Presidential 2016, campaign advances, it seems like Americans are "whistling past the graveyard", trying to remain aloof, by ignoring the "Axis of Evil" refresher.  

Refugee crises in Central Europe will tip ethnic balance

President Assad of Syria is only one man, but his evil regime is causing chaos for his people and, by extension, causing a humanitarian crises in Europe. Yet, he's only one man. 

Syrian refugees leaving for Europe by the tens of thousands

President Bashar al-Assad of Syria has confounded many observers by holding on to power for more than three years in the face of a rebellion by a large part of the population.  But he's only one man.
Thousands of Syrian refugees are swarming into Central Europe in their efforts to reach Germany. These despearate refugees will eventually tip the ethnic balance throughout Europe. In other words, Europe will become a Syrian annex. There's just no stopping the proponderance of growing Syrian infiltration. It's just a matter of time when the social unrest caused by accomodating an unmanagemable immigrant population will cause internal government unrest.   Now, even friendly Slovakia is limiting the numbers being allowed entry into this small nation.

Obviously, Europeans won't solve the refugee problem. They are only reacting by taking in as many as possible.  Governments are stretching very thin resources trying to accommodate the growing number of immigrants, but they aren't focused on the source of the crises.

At the source of this humanitarian crises is one man. He is Bashar al-Assad President of Syria. He's one man who's responsible for the genocide of half of his Syrian nation's population. Assad is a puppet of the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. Therefore, the reign of Assad is limited to his usefulness. Putin is clearly using the puppet government to extend Russia's borders outside of the Soviet Union. Meanwhile, Syrian refugees are consuming European resources, while Putin smugly waits until the weight of the problem tanks all of Europe.

But, Assad is only one man.  Now, of course, the crises he caused has reached the point of no return. Assad must be removed from power and a provisional government should try to recruit Syrians to return home.  Assad is only one man.  As the source of the catastrophic humanitarian disaster he created, he must be tried for crimes against humanity. Moreover, the Syrians, who lost everything because of his genocide, must receive their homes back and compensation for what was lost. This retribution may take decades, but it will have to happen.  The world cannot forget.

Meanwhile, the ethnic balance in Central Europe will cause another source of social problems.  In fact, after the Syrian refugees are finally settled, Europe may never be the same again.

Europeans struggle with refugee crises but cower at the cause

Obviously the world sympathizes with the desperate plight of milllions of Syrian and and other political refugees now swarming like migrating flocks of swans into Europe.  

Although the European leaders are "shocked, shocked" by this extraordinary humanitarian carnage, the sad fact is that they are not willing to do anything to root out  the cause of these human tragedies.  Rather than squabble about what to do, like the proverbial "Henny Pennies" of fable, they would be wiser to find a few refugee leaders who could negotiate a plan to resettle these people back to Syria. In other words, destroy the evil Syrian al-Assad regime, that did nothing to help the people who are now fleeing his extraordinary tyranny. What world leader would allow half of his nation's population to flee?  

Who will replace these Syrian people?  They are the future of Syria....or so they "were". 

It baffles me why no leaders seem intent on replacing al-Assad.  

I recall when President Obama and England's Prime Minister Cameron were willing to join forces to take out evil al-Assad and the world revolted at the idea of intervening in yet another Middle East war. Well, the refugee crises is the  horrible outcome of this failed intervention and now the Europeans are "shocked, shocked!", and they seem incapable of responding!

Europe’s meltdown in the face of its biggest post-1945 immigration emergency is generating the worst east-west split since the Iraq war, when Donald Rumsfeld divided it into “new Europe and old Europe” – his supporters and opponents.

On Thursday Germany and France ordered the European commission to come up with a new “permanent” and binding regime for spreading the refugee load around all of the 28 countries in the union. David Cameron and home secretary Theresa May want nothing to do with the scheme and have absented themselves from the policymaking, carping from the sidelines.

So, in my opinion, the Europeans seem intent on picking the refugees off of their shores like dead fish and putting them in body bags as they drop dead on the roads, rather than take out the source of this crises.  

I simply cannot understand the handwringing logic of the European leaders when the alternative to the refugee crises is crystal clear.  

If world leaders can really and truly show leadership, this situation can be reversed, because the alternative to removing the root cause is a daunting 21st century tragedy, with no resolution, at all

International refugee tragedies reminiscent of pre World War II

Compelling pictures of desperate refugees trying to find safety from war by travelling towards Western Europe are flooding the internatioal media. Instead of being helped, the refugees are faced with finding even more desperation, tragedy and death.

Now, as the tragedy grows, the refugees are being treated like prisoners rather than asylum seekers. Scenes of families struggling to crowd into traains with the crushing force of hundreds cramming
into the doors before they close, are beyond belief.  Nevertheless, the tragedy looks like a color film replay of World War II, when the Germans were desperately putting their children on trains to help them escape from the Nazi persecutions and death camps.

CNN reports: Budapest train station opens for limited travel, while migrants rush in.  They just want a future, they say.
A terribly sad photo of a toddler's lifeless body -- one of 12 people who drowned off Turkey and washed up on a beach -- has come to symbolize the gravity of the crisis.

Evidently, little in Europe has improved the human condition during the last 150, or more years. Desperate migrations of refugees have followed wars and persecutions for multiple decades. 

Obviously, the recent migrations of immigrants coming from Syria are escaping camps, where they have been interred since being displaced by the evil President Bashar al-Assad. 

What's Europe going to do with these seemingly endless waves of immigrants, when most of the nations can hardly afford to care for their own people?

One way I've recommended is to find somebody, or several people, to lead these refugee people. They need to be organized into actions that will return them to the places from where they originated.  

Instead, there's no leadership evident among these tragic refugees. It's every man, woman, child and family fighting for themselves.

Moreover, they frequently find themselves at the mercy of heinous

people who prey on them for money and then abandon them in the middle of their flights to seek freedom.

Since there are no obvious leaders to help these people, it's incumbent on the United Nations to offer help. Unfortunately, this increasingly inept international body seems to be cowering in the shadows.  

Meanwhile, the refugee tragedy has swelled into a massive humanitarian disaster and it may have reached the point of no return. In other words, the problem is bigger than any solution proposed to fix it, short of capturing Assad and delivering the refugees back to Syria (those who are alive to return).

Otherwise, as the crises continues, the roads into Western European nations will become littered with dead men, women, and children, like squirrels caught by the wheels of a Mack truck. At the same time, drowned children's bodies will become as common as finding dead fish on the shore. Something, pray God, must be done.

But what?

Tragic Europeans pick up dead immigrants like road kill or beached fish

Horribly dangerous political problems, including wars, are causing tens of thousands of beleaguered, and desperate immigrants to risk lives and futures to dangerously immigrate across Europe.  

Rather than trying to solve the problems causing these human tragedies, the Europeans are reacting by picking up the pieces of people who frequently die in the process of risking everything, to find a better life. Incredulously, the European coast guards and public safety people are picking up dead immigrants, victims of their refugee status, like they are road kill on highways or beached fish in the Mediterranean Sea.

What I don't understand is why these desperate people aren't turning, in masses, on the people who're causing them to die trying to escape their situations?

Refugees are streaming into Europe from the Middle East and from Greece. If there were an inspired leader to organize these people, perhaps they could turn on those who are causing them to become the humanitarian victims of war and political turmoil.  Surely, when the time comes to hold people accountable for this carnage, the penalties for those causing these human evacuations will be prosecuted. Unfortunately, they won't be tried before uncounted numbers of innocents (including women and children) die, without any chance to save themselves.

What will the world do to stop this humanitarian disaster?  Rescue workers can't continue to scrape human carcasses out of abandoned trucks and off of beaches.

Refugees are risking everything to escape to Europe

In fact, up to 3,000 refugees a day are arriving in Macedonia!

Up to 3,000 migrants are expected to cross into Macedonia every day in the coming months, most of them refugees fleeing war, particularly from Syria, the United Nations said on Tuesday.

Member states of the European Union must share the burden by establishing "equitable re-distribution" of desperate families seeking asylum in the bloc, the U.N. refugee agency said.

Nearly 300,000 people have crossed the Mediterranean this year, including nearly 181,500 in Greece and 108,500 in Italy, according to the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). 

Obviously, this humanitarian crises cannot continue or the nations being inundated by these tragic waves of humanity  will cause the collapse of government safety nets.  

Instead, the Europeans must unite themselves and enlist the male refugees who are able to fight to organize an invasion of Syria. The purpose of this invasion would be to capture the evil Bashar al-Assad, President of Syria, and to relocate all the refugees, as many as possible, back to this nation until they can be repatriated to their homelands. 

Unless something is done, the tragic human waves of dead refugees and illegal immigrants streaming into Europe will continue.

American news media have not reported events in Syria - Assad must be looking for refuge

It's difficult to understand why American news media continue to under report or ignore news. Now that Syrian rebels are showing some success, the only coverage is in The Christian Science Monitor and Al Jeezera America.

Syrian rebels seize key government-held city
Government forces redeploy to Jisr al-Shughour after rebel alliance overruns strategic city  April 25, 2015 

Syrian rebel fighters, including the Al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front, captured the northwestern Syrian city of Jisr al-Shughour on Saturday, for the first time in the four-year-old conflict.

Syrian state media said the army had redeployed to the city's surroundings "to avoid civilian casualties." They said the army was battling "a large number of terrorists coming from the Turkish border."

The capture of the strategic city is the latest in a series of setbacks for government forces in the south and north.

Opposition fighters and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitoring group, said the city, on a road between the coastal city of Latakia and city of Aleppo, was now fully controlled by rebels.

"All of Jisr al-Shughour is now liberated, there is no more regime there," Ahmad of the media office of the armed group Ahrar Al-Sham, which is taking part in the battle, told Reuters.

After seizing the city, rebels continued their assault with the aim of pushing the army from the few remaining government areas in the province of Idlib.

Advance on coast


Last month armed groups seized the city of Idlib, the capital of the province of Idlib near Turkey, after forming an alliance which includes Nusra, Ahrar Al-Sham and Jund al-Aqsa, but not Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), their rival.

The alliance calls itself Army of Fatah, a reference to the conquests that spread Islam across the Middle East from the seventh century.

The allied groups agreed to unite in the battle for Jisr al-Shughour under the name "Battle for Victory." The formation of alliances by groups before major battles is one of the factors behind the advances, sources say.

By taking Jisr al-Shughour, the rebels have edged closer to the coastal province of Latakia, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's stronghold, and are now less than 5 miles from villages loyal to the government near the coast.

"Jisr al-Shughour is more important than Idlib itself, it is very close to the coastal area which is a regime area, the coast now is within our fire reach," Ahmad from Ahrar Al-Sham said.

Syrian forces captured the city of Jisr al-Shughour in June 2011, when what the government described as armed gangs killed more than 120 security personnel in the city after large anti-government demonstrations there.

A rebellion in Jisr al-Shughour, home to 50,000 residents, in 1980 against President Hafez al-Assad, Bashar's father, was crushed with scores of deaths.

Urgent for Islamic State to be annhiliated- especially the executioners

All parents are grieving the death of the idealistic humanitarian Kayla Mueller (1988-2015) of Prescott Arizona, who was murdered by the evil ISIS barbarians in the Middle East.  

Along with eradicating ISIS, the world must make the group's executioners accountable with a public trial.  As a matter of fact, if governments know the names of the ISIS executioners, we should begin war crimes trials now...immediately.

As a result of the serial barbaric murders of innocent people executed by ISIS, the US Congress is highly likely to approve of an increase in military action to annihilate the terrorist Islamic group.

ISIS is a heinously evil group of Islamic extremists who have used the human lives of innocent non-combatants to create terror among peaceful people.  These monsters must be destroyed. 

Although many civilians will tragically be in harms way as a result of the group's annihilation, the ISIS demons have demonstrated no consideration for the human condition.  An "eye for an eye" seems an appropriate response. Destroy them.

The family of Kayla Mueller, the 26-year-old aid worker held hostage by Isis since August 2013, has confirmed in a statement that she has been killed.

“We are heartbroken to share that we’ve received confirmation that Kayla Jean Mueller, has lost her life,” her parents and brother said on Tuesday.

Supporters of Islamic State had claimed on Friday that she was killed in a Jordanian air strike intended to avenge the burning to death of a captured Jordanian pilot. US officials could not determine her cause of death.

The National Security Council spokeswoman, Bernadette Meehan, said that over the weekend, the family received a private message from Mueller’s captors containing “additional information”.

“Once this information was authenticated by the intelligence community, they concluded that Kayla was deceased,” Meehan said.

My sincere sympathy to the family if Kayla Jean Mueller. She's among the martyrs who tried to improve the human condition of millions of displaced Syrians. These desperate refugees were driven out of their homeland by the evil dictator Bashar al-Assad. He should also be eradicated, along with ISIS. 

Meanwhile, in memorial I will also remember James Foley (1973-2014) of Rochester NH, and the names of others who are too numerous to list. 

America must never negotiated with terrorists.  Meanwhile, we must eradicate the ISIS terrorists and their executioners.
