Praise for Rep. Cheney and Rep. Kinzinger speaking truth to power
To save our country- echo opinion letter published in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, in Little Rock:
On Independence Day July 4, 2022, I write to say I am grateful for two patriotic, courageous Republican members of Congress, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger.

January 6, investigation includes two Republicans in Congress- Rep. Cheney and Rep. Kinzinger with Committee Chair Rep. 'Thompson |
They speak truth to power when most of their colleagues will not. Rep. Cheney and Rep. Kinzinger show political courage, despite the threats they are hearing from dangerous people who are attacking them and their families lives. As members of the Jan. 6 committee, they have steadfastly held hearings to determine the truth and the details leading up to and on Jan. 6, 2021. A day that will go down in infamy. We all watched in horror as a sitting president spurred insurrectionists to attack Congress. We watched as they chanted to hang the vice president and kill the speaker of the House.
We now know that a handful of Republican House members asked for a presidential pardon. Could it be due to their part in the conspiracy to overturn a fair and free election? It is imperative that these (begging for mercy!) members be subpoenaed so Americans can learn the full truth. What would make this more likely to happen? If the rest of the Republican House members boldly and publicly stated that they want the whole truth.
In Arkansas, the elected members know how dangerous the attack on Congress was. I am requesting that our Arkansas representatives drum up the courage to put their oath of office over party, just as Cheney and Kinzinger have done. I'm asking them to say aloud that the former president lost the election, that he fomented a coup, and that those who were complicit must be questioned under oath and indictments brought as needed.

To my 2nd Congressional District representative, Mr. French Hill, let me say: Saving our nation is more important than keeping your current job.
