President Biden: International leadership reunited NATO to support the Ukraine

Tens of thousands of Ukrainians are bravely risking their lives to save their country from Russia's invasion, directed by Vladimir Putin. However, Ukraine's military resources are limited. Why? President Zelensky, in 2019, fearing the possibility of such a Putin-led invasion, begged President Donald Trump for $400 million in military aid. However, Trump used a blackmail tactic, stating that release of this support was dependent upon Zelensky's government digging up dirt on Trump's presidential opponent, Joe Biden.

Zelenskyy grew up as a native Russian speaker in Kryvyi Rih, a major city of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in central Ukraine.

Now President Biden, with true leadership, has reunited NATO, the EU, and other countries (even Japan in Asia) and shepherded a United Nations vote of condemnation against Putin's actions. These behind-the-scenes actions, not widely heralded, have been necessary to rebuild our nation's relationships after the massively destructive actions of Donald Trump. These actions aren't as newsworthy or attention-getting as the spewing of lies and hatred, but they may save the lives of many fellow global citizens. Fortunately, some military support is now moving through limited channels to assist the Ukrainian defense.

Urgently, the survival of democracy in Ukraine is front and center on the world stage. There is hope. (❓). 

Russian oligarchs are already feeling pain, and there may be an upwelling of dissent in the Russian populace. Could this lead to regime change in Russia? Finding Putin guilty of war crimes in The Hague? A reversal or slowing down of the global rise in authoritarianism?

Could this lead to an America where truth, reason and an understanding about the importance of global, cooperative relationships "trump" (inept!) authoritarian behavior which threatens all global citizens? Might we Americans feel united again in defending the true value of freedom like we did when we displayed our beloved flag together after the tragedy of Sept. 11?
