Truth, lies and Donald Trump
According to humorist Will Rogers (and even Mark Twain), politicians often fall into the latter group. Most of us baby boomers remember “Tricky Dick” and Spiro Agnew. More recently we recall the escapades of Rod Blagojevich and James Traficant. Those of us who actually took notes in history class even remember Huey Long and “Boss” Tweed. So, the goons are out there . . . always have been.
The “goon du jour” is Donald Trump. To be honest, “du jour” is probably a bit understated. Trump is the goons’ poster child. Right, wrong, truth, lies . . . let’s “unpack” Trump’s adult behaviors.
1. Trump and his dad engaged in rent discrimination.
2. Trump was charged with money laundering (twice).
3. Trump did business with New York crime families.
4. Trump stiffed subcontractors out of earned wages.
5. Trump defrauded 3,000 Trump University students and the “Trump Foundation.”
6. Trump committed adultery and other forms of sexual misconduct.
7. Trump cavorted with shady Russians (lots of them).
8. Trump leverages the presidency for personal financial gain.
9. Trump tells thousands of lies and falsehoods to the American people.
10. Trump continually bullies, intimidates, insults and threatens people.
Trump never learned how to behave.

Virtually every adult on the planet will testify that a big part of growing up was learning how to behave, right from wrong, and truth from lies. Some adults learn these lessons well, others don’t.

Was it bad parenting? Poor peer influences? A damaged psyche? Who knows; who cares. The guy is 72 years old. He should know better. He is also the president of the United States. That matters, a lot. Republican . . . Democrat. Makes no difference.
Trump is a bad guy. America needs an adult in the White House who knows how to behave.
