Syrian bombs and a divided nation
There are many excellent leadership quotes recorded in history when the people of a nation are seeking justification for being at war. Abraham Lincoln said "a house divided against itself cannot stand". Franklin Delano Roosevelt said about Pearl Harbor, "A day that will live in infamy".
President George W. Bush said, "We hear you. The nation hears you", to the rescue workers who were tirelessly evacuating what they could find from the New York City terrorist attack.
Yet, the coward Donald Trump has said nothing about bombing Syria without impacting the outcome of a lost war and the devastation of the Syrian people. He just ordered a bombing, because he could, even though doing so was illegal under the US Constitution because Syria had never harmed the US.
Of course, the world abhors what has happened in Syria. But the Russian backed regime in Damascus under the evil dictator Bashar al-Assad continues to exist. Our goal in twice bombing Syria without initiating a regime change is pointless. This meaningless aggression isn't helping anybody. Rather, it's just allowing Donald Trump to take his personal and political crises du jour off the front page, temporarily. But, it also begs the horrible question of "what is Donald Trump capable of doing next, just because he can?"
"The American people did not choose this fight. It came to our shores, and started with the senseless slaughter of our citizens. After nearly 10 years of service, struggle, and sacrifice, we know well the costs of war. These efforts weigh on me every time I, as Commander-in-Chief, have to sign a letter to a family that has lost a loved one, or look into the eyes of a service member who’s been gravely wounded. So Americans understand the costs of war."

President Barack Obama explained the situation about the killing of Osama Bin Laden in his address to the nation in May, 2011:
"The American people did not choose this fight. It came to our shores, and started with the senseless slaughter of our citizens. After nearly 10 years of service, struggle, and sacrifice, we know well the costs of war. These efforts weigh on me every time I, as Commander-in-Chief, have to sign a letter to a family that has lost a loved one, or look into the eyes of a service member who’s been gravely wounded. So Americans understand the costs of war."
Donald Trump has yet to explain any functional plan to the American people about anything of substance. There are no memorable quotes other than his miserable and chaotic Tweets.
Yet, the Republicans do nothing.
Syria's evil regime still exists.
Millions of Syrians are the victims of a useless war and Assad has gassed his own people for no reason whatsoever.
But Donald Trump continues his *just because he can* failed leadership, while leading Republicans resign from Congress and otherwise hide behind the propaganda machine broadcasting of FoxNews. History will prove that America under the soiled and contaminated "pee-pee" leadership of Donald Trump has sadly regressed. Yet, Republicans continue to do nothing to stop Donald Trump.
America is a nation divided. Bombing Syria without a strategy will do nothing to unify our nation. The United States of America is under stress. Without a clarion call for unity under inspired, progressive leadership, we may become an anachronism. In other words, our "one nation, under God" may be "a thing belonging or appropriate to a period other than that in which it exists, especially a thing that is conspicuously old-fashioned" (an understatement).
