Republicans stand behind untethered 2nd amendment but childrens lives don't matter

Speaking as a Roman Catholic woman, I'm calling out House Speaker Paul Ryan. Shame! Childrens' lives matter!

Reports, post the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting in Connecticut, described the dead children killed by a gun carrying killer, as being stacked like cord wood. They were among the 28 people who were the victims of the deranged school shooter, a misfit named Adam Lanza. He was believed to suffer from a personality disorder and lived with his mother, said a law enforcement official who was briefed on the investigation.

Following the deadly and preventable killings, the US Congress became paralyzed about enforcing common sense gun regulations to help prevent future mass killings. Nothing worked because Republicans in Congress prefer to save 2nd amendment rights rather than protect people from being the victims of gun violence.

Finally, President Obama took executive action to strengthen gun purchase laws. He intends to create barriers for convicted criminals and terrorists, to help prevent them from using loopholes, whereby they can buy guns without background checks. Believe it or not, Republicans are screeching like wounded hyenas about this common sense executive action.

Obviously, the Republicans who screech the loudest about common sense gun regulations, like "Trump the Chump", "Cruz to loose" (aka "Senator Cruz"), and now add Speaker Paul Ryan to the triad, don't have any children among those whose bodies were stacked like cord wood, after the tragic Sandy Hook slaughter.

I'm especially disturbed by the negative response to the President's protective executive actions by politically blinded right wing politicians, like Congressman Paul Ryan. These wrong minded politicians and their zealous followers are obsessed by second amendment rights and blinded by guns while they need to protect human life. 

Indeed, the second amendment right wing zealots who lack compassion for victims of gun violence are a national embarrassment!

Americans must support President Obama's executive actions to help protect public safety during a growing gun violence epidemic. At the same time, American voters must reject all Republicans who are supporting 2nd amendment rights to own weapons, rather than protecting human beings from gun-violence.

Preventable Gun Violence Deaths - When Victims are Victimized

All gun violence deaths are preventable, so, let's do more to prevent them.

Gun violence deaths are more easily preventable than treatments and interventions for bacterial infections, viruses or chronic illnesses  There's only one cause of gun violence deaths - and it's a highly visible vector.  Guns.  If guns were bird flu viruses,  would they be outlawed? 

Nevertheless, many Americans have adopted gun ownership as an inalienable right under our US Constitution's Second Amendment, regardless of how many innocent people are murdered as a result of  wrong minded or mentally ill gun owners who deliberately inflict harm. 

Compounding the tragedy of gun violence is the "in your face" attitude of those who want to protect gun ownership rights, regardless of the consequences of unbridled and unregulated access to weapons intended to murder humans.
 
Moreover, the tragic distress caused by gun violence is exacerbated when families of preventable death victims are, themselves, victimized by zealots who simply don't want anybody to infringe on their right to own guns, regardless of the pain it causes to others. Brave parents of the innocent Sandy Hook Elementary School children, who were murdered on December 14, 2012, in Newton CT, went to the public and the US Congress to petition for expanded background checks, prior to gun purchases. But their petition was overruled by the Senate. While these families grieved and witnessed the US Senate vote to defeat the background checks legislation, some other right wing commentators gloated, while a majority of the nation mourned.  It defies our democratic "gravity" that a majority of Americans supported expanded background checks prior to gun purchases, yet our elected political leaders voted against the will of the people!

There are political consequences for the politicians who voted against the will of the people and defeated the background checks legislation.

Even if some who opposed common sense regulation of gun ownership somehow manage to escape political retribution, their legacy will forever be tainted as a result of their "no" vote. In fact, they'll live their lives  knowing they compounded the victimization of at least 20 grieving families of Sandy Hook Elementary children by defeating the legislation in full view of the victims families, and a nation that largely supported the regulation.

Preventable Children Deaths - All Gun Violence is Preventable

It's time to prevent all gun violence deaths.

While President Obama justifiably weeps for the nation in his response to the senseless Sandy Hook Elementary School killings in Newtown Connecticut, the brutal fact remains - these senseless innocents, murdered, are among the spiraling number of preventable deaths perpetrated by crazy people who manage to gain access to guns. Without guns, all - ALL, the deaths by guns would never have happened, the victims would not be among the growing litany of preventable gun related deaths.

Twenty-eight people are murdered and 20 of them are innocent children, as a result of yet another mad man who somehow gained access to guns.  

Anyone who supports the National Rifle Association's obstruction of gun control regulations are tangentially complicit in these and all the other heinous gun violence crimes.  

"Evil visited this community" said Connecticut Governor Connecticut Dan Malloy.  Evil is an accurate description. There is no other explanation except for evil; but there are ways to prevent even his kind of heinous evil.  

All gun violence can be prevented if the National Rifle Association would support gun control.  Mentally ill people should be kept so far away from guns as to somehow create either an electrical bolt or a poisonous response by getting close to a gun.  

President Obama listed the growing number of preventable violent events:  movie theater, shopping mall, schools, Jewish community center.....we are a nation in perpetual mourning.

It makes virtually no sense.

One common theme runs throughout all gun violence deaths, ie. access to guns.

Those who oppose gun regulations under the false assumption that "guns don't kill, people do", share the blame for those who are senselessly dead.  

Without guns, people are unable to commit gun violence. Right wing and conservative "gun rights" zealots must, once and for all, stop their senseless defense of guns.
