Thank you Tulsa World letter ~ echo supports #MarchForOurLives

From Kathy J. Hunter of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma published in Tulsa World

#MarchForOurLives

God bless the protesting youth who have the courage and intelligence to realize that grown-ups are unwilling and disinterested in protecting them from rogue gunmen breaking into their schoolhouses and shooting them dead.

School shootings have been happening for years while parents, politicians and preachers merely shrugged and talked about how awful it is without mobilizing against it. The assumption was always that the government had a plan to take care of it. And for that, I am just as guilty as anyone.

As adults, we carry a burden of shame like no generation before us. Our youth proudly act to focus the heritage we have so long taken for granted. We are witnessing a return to democracy.

Echo in Oklahoma news Tulsa World - enough is enough guns

Oklahoma opinion:
Americans must do something about gun control

BROKEN ARROW,
OKLAHOMA
- Isn't it time we valued our children more than we value our guns? Politicians and the NRA (National Rifle Association) keep saying no laws would have prevented this or that massacre and event. Maybe not, but we could have made it less likely to happen. There are proposed laws out there that would not prevent law-abiding citizens from getting guns but would make it more difficult for guns to get into the hands of criminals and the mentally unstable.

Let's contact our politicians and get gun control laws passed. You've heard the saying that all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. We've been doing nothing too long already. Come on, good men and women, do something!
