Conspiracy theorist Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is an embarrassment to his father's legacy

I had the unfortunate experience of watching Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.,  in action when he arrived with his entourage of anti-vaxxers to speak (uninvited) to a public hearing with the Maine Legislature's Health and Human Services Committee. It was weird to watch the son of a martyred political leader and his father's namesake to speak so arrogantly to a group of legislators who never invited him to speak, in the first place. After all, Mr. Kennedy is not a Maine resident and so, frankly, he had no business taking up public hearing time from other qualified state residents and medical professionals.

Shameful, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is an anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorist.  He makes no sense!
Instead,, Mr. Kennedy came to the Maine state house at the behest of local anti-vaxxers that only wanted to create a fuss. After Mr. Kennedy spoke for over 35 minutes, harping about vaccine conspiracies, he and his video crew paraded out of the hearing room, leaving volumes of their crazy literature stacked in corner places, for people to ignore.

So, this opinion published in the Conway New Hampshire Daily Sun newspaper by Jonna Carter certainly grabbed my attention:

She begins her essays by announcing, "Today, I'm going to name the conspiracies, and you're going to guess the presidential candidate promoting them. Are you ready?"

1.  Bun ownership per capita in Switzerland is similar to the United Wattes.  But, according to Forbes Magazine, the Swiss own 27.6 firearms per 100 people while Americans boast the highest per capita rate of gun ownership in the world at 120.5 guns per 100 people, because, everyone knows, the more guns you have, the safer you are.

(That's more than one gun per 100 people!  But, wait, wait.....no human can fire more than one gun at a time!)

2. Mass shootings are connected to prescription pharmaceuticals, specifically the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) the the most commonly prescribed antidepressants. This candidate has become cozy with Elon Musk, telling Mr. Musk, "Prior to the introduction of Prozac, we had almost none of these events." Okay, I can debunk this one because I had a dog who took Prozac for two years.  She shot nobody.

3. Speaking of pharmaceuticals, the industry is throwing money at Democrats?  Ummmmm, not quite sure how this conspiracy can find a credible source?

4. The CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) was involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy. An oldie, but a goodie. (Shame on Mr. Kennedy for desecrating the memory of his uncle.)

5. Despite his confession, Sirhan Sirhan might not have assassinated Robert F. Kennedy.  (Yes, you got that right.  This conspiracy is about his own father! Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is an embarrassment to his martyred father's legacy!)

6. The 2004, presidential election was stolen. Yup! Voter fraud contributed to John Kerry's loss.

7. COVID-19 was engineered as a biowweapon. "COVID was clearly a bioweapons problem, he said on Twitter Spaces, whatever that is.

8. Anthony Fauci and Bill Gates amplified the pandemic to promote vaccines. In his book, this conspiracy candidate accused the two men of forgoing "a historic coup d'etat against Western democracy."  His answer to COVID?  You guessed in - OMG - (wait for it!) Ivermectin, approved to treat intestinal parasitic worms and head lice.

9. Vaccines cause autism. He is the founder of the Children's Health Defense, an agency promoting vaccine skepticism.

This FOX News conspiracy darling has touted permanent closure of the southern border, asked that the federal government consider the invasion of Ukraine from the perspective of the Russians, likened the government's COVID vaccination program to Hitler's Germany and revealed, on Joe Rogan's podcast, that he thinks, that if he is elected to be president, he'll be assassinated, by the CIA, adding the cryptic, "I take precautions".

Have you guessed who this conspiracy candidate is? Is it Ron DeSantis? Nope. How about Dr. Oz (Oh, no, he is on a break.) This right wing extremist is a Democratic candidate, Robert F. Kennedy. The F. stands for "fruitcake". His family, including his wife Cheryl Hines, have distanced themselves from his nutty notions. (We love kooky Grandpa, but we never know what's going to come out of his mouth.). -

Maine Writer also found this:  Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Offered to Announce He and Cheryl Hines Had Separated to ‘Protect Her’ repoted in Variety, by Charna Flam. "Ms. Hines shares that the statement that drove Kennedy to propose their separation announcement were his comparisons between the Holocaust and CDC leader Anthony Fauci’s efforts to vaccinate Americans against COVID."

Kennedy happens to be making a name for himself in New Hampshire where he was scheduled to speak at the Roger's Campground in Lancaster, at the PorcFest, short for "Porcupine Freedom Festival" has been around for 20-ish years. This is a multi-day celebration about liberty", where all are invited to come and engage in all around liberty-loving good times. Yee-haw!  (Not exactly a Kennedy-esque sort of venue- a long way from Hyannis.)

Kennedy has negotiated with these freedom lovers that anyone attending his speech must do so without his/her firearms.  Apparently, freedom has its limits.

The New Hampsire Democratic Party has taken issue with Kennedy's attendance, but, gee, I cannot image a better fit for him than meeting with a group of the misinformed.  In fact, Mr. RFKJr., said, "I welcome support from the libertarians....I have tremendous support in that cohort."  .....broken clock award here, there is no doubt about Kennedy's appeal to the misinformed liberarians.

Party Chair Ray Buckley made a personal appeal to RFKJr., in a letter, writing that the Free State Project's goal is "to seize control of government and impose a dystopian lifestyle on the people of the Granit State. Their vision of eliminating New Hampshire's tradition of caring for the common good is fundamentally at odds with the values of the New Hampshire Democratic Party. For the record, Kennedy is as much a Democrat s Donald Trump is a Republican.

Mr. Buckely continues, "Free Staters have been instrumental in significantly cutting funding for New Hampshire public schools....They also reject common-sense gun control measures, advocating instead for absolute unrestricted access to firearms by anyone. This, in addition to pushing a concerted legislative effort towards having New Hampshire secede from the United States."  The letter ends with, "We look forward to hearing your response."

Buckley might be regretting that line which invited- or course- an RFKJr Twitter rampage.  "The Democratic Party Bosses who promote censorship, who have stripped New Hampshire of its rightful First in the Nation primary status, who have shut down debate, who refuse to campaign in New Hampshire, are in no position to tell me who to talk to.  I'm going to speak at Porcfest because I believe in freedom, (for porcupines?  ), unity, healing

the divide, and truth.  #LiveFree- or Die."

The promise of a Camelot encore?  I think not.  By Jonna Carter in Brownfield, Maine.
