Christians and Donald Trump ~ echo opinion letter from Virginia

An echo letter published in The Northern Virginia Daily News

Donald Trump hides behind the Bible to falsely impress his Evangelical followers ~ but he couldn't have read it...!
It seems rather perplexing to me how the conservative Christian – or the liberal Christian – or any Christian – can feel any loyalty or connection to the spoiled child who currently lives in the White House.

It seems perplexing because this spoiled child represents EVERYTHING opposite of the Christian values and morals that I learned and that I have taught.

Let me count the ways.

As found in John 8:44, Christians value truth and accept that Satan distorts the truth. This spoiled child in the White House lies and lies and lies – he’s not distorting the truth; he’s lying.

Christians value faithfulness – not only to God but to a spouse. This person cheated on his first wife with his second wife, cheated on his second wife with his third wife and cheated on his third wife with at least one porn star.

As found in Luke 10:25-37 or in Galatians 4:14, Christians value justice and in treating each other with respect. This spoiled child picks fights with people, childishly name calls, and mocks others with meanness and vengeance.

Christians believe that God is the ultimate authority – not man. This spoiled child constantly gives himself all the credit – except when he has made drastic mistakes.

Finally, the “greatest commandment” is found in Matthew 22:36-40. Christians value “loving thy neighbor.” This spoiled child who lives in the White House is an irreprehensible bully who is self-serving and self-interested.

So – I ask you – how can a Christian – any Christian – want to align his/herself with this being that represents the total opposite of Christian values and morals?

This no longer is a political issue. This is a morality issue.
