Nearly four percent of Americans showed up in all 50 states plus Guam for No Kings peaceful protests against Donald Trump

Congratulations America❗  🎈

We deserve credit for the highly successful peaceful protrests against Donald Trump during June 14, 2025 No Kings demonstrations.

Opinion letters published in The Philadelphia Inquirer

The largest protest ever to take place against a United States president occurred on Saturday, as “No Kings” events brought anti-Trump activists to cities and towns both small and large across America. Despite his claim to the contrary, Donald Trump did not have the largest crowd ever assembled for an inauguration in 2017, but he did manage to bring out an unprecedented number to express revulsion over what he has done and is attempting to do to our country and our values and tenets. Congratulations, Mr. President!

Rembering First Lady Mrs. Rosalyn Carter living a life of purpose

Rosalynn Carter shows us that human decency matters in leaders.
Echo opinion letters sent to the Los Angeles Times:
Mrs. Carter's autobiography "First Lady from Plains" is my favorite "first lady" books.
First Lady from Plains, first published in 1984, is Rosalynn's Carter's autobiography, covering her life from her childhood in Plains, Georgia, through her time as First Lady.

To the editor: The passing of former First Lady Rosalynn Carter reminds us of the glory of a better time — an era in which a simple life of hope, goodness and basic human decency defined many major figures on the national stage.

With her marriage partner of an astounding 77 years, the former first lady lived a life of purpose*. Would that there would be more like her in such a turbulent time in our nation’s history, a time in which we find our people so divided.

Rosalynn Carter leaves a legacy through her lifetime of accomplishment. She made the world a better place. She enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to know her as well as all Americans.

From Her memory will surely be an eternal blessing.

Oren Spiegler, Peters Township, Pennsylvania

President Jimmy Carter and Mrs. Rosalynn (Smith) Carter

To the editor: The Carters were married for a total of 77 years, during which she served as a lifelong active partner to her husband, former President Jimmy Carter.

What a contrast to the former  guy Trump, who is thrice married and started dating his second wife when he was still married to his first.

(And the lowlife Trump slept with porm star Stormy Daniels when his wife Melania was post partum after the birth of their son.)

Rosalynn Carter sat in on Cabinet meetings, where she spoke freely, and she traveled with President Carter, presenting her viewpoints on various subjects, including mental health. She and her husband continued to work together to help others worldwide after he was president.

They were truly an outstanding couple.

Richard C. Armendariz, Huntington Beach

*Mental health her top priority

“I wanted to take mental illnesses and emotional disorders out of the closet, to let people know it is all right to admit having a problem without fear of being called crazy. If only we could consider mental illnesses as straightforwardly as we do physical illnesses, those affected could seek help and be treated in an open and effective way.”

Kevin McCarthy and the consipiracy coalition

Opinion echo letter published in Bakersfield.com:
(Maine Writer- I believe Bakersfield is the Kevin McCarthy hometown newspaper.)
In one of his latest stunning tweets, U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy states that he is refusing to seat two Democrats on the Intelligence Committee, citing his desire to return it to "one of genuine honesty and credibility that retains the trust of the American people." Can he have said this with a straight face?
Speaker McCarthy is dispensing committee assignments to the loathsome Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene, who is well-established as an advocate of crackpot conspiracy theories including those advanced by QAnon, an endorser of violence against elected officials with whom she disagrees, and most recently, stating that if she and others of her ilk had been in charge of the January 6, 2021, insurrection, "we would have won and we would have been armed."

Kevin McCarthy's actions do not match his words. He has no desire to restore genuine honesty and credibility to the U. S. House. Instead, he is burning it down. The lunatics are running the asylum.

Protect the Constitution and shred Trumpziism

The Pathogen that is Trump

Donald Trump took an oath to protect and defend the US Constitution but now he wants to shred it for the purpose of declaring the 2020, election to be illegal.
Frankly, it is Trumpziism that must be shredded.

A Trilogy of echo opinions published in Yahoo Finance

Echo to the editor: The former president's desperate and unhinged antics continue. Trump's latest abomination, apparently stated seriously, is his suggestion that the Constitution should be terminated so that he may be restored to the presidency.

Trump is indeed relevant because he audaciously announced another bid for the presidency, and he continues to command tens of millions of loyalists, many of whom are armed.

His suggestion that the protections for the people that are offered within the Constitution should be nullified is a clear demonstration of the grave danger a second Trump presidency would pose. If granted that power, he would surely pull all the stops to become an autocratic leader for life.
I have to believe that the American people are more sensible than to allow that to happen.

From Oren Spiegler, Peters Township, in Washington County Pennsylvania

And another echo to the editor: How big of a cliff is this? Trump wrote the following this weekend on his social media platform:

"A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution. Our great 'Founders' did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!"

The founders deliberately divided government for checks and balances. The courts are an important part of that equation. They have ruled decisively against Trump's baseless claims — including from Trump's own appointments.

Trump's vision is no less than fascism. Now if he can just get enough brain-dead voters to go along, or use violence when ballots fail him, he can be emperor.

Ed Walcek, Placentia in Orange County California

Third echo opinion to the editor: Former Republican Party consultant Rick Wilson has commented, "Everything Trump touches dies."

The largely muted response to Trump's call to upend our Constitution shows how thoroughly our national "frog" has gotten used to its place in Trump's cauldron of water heating to a boil. It's as if we're saying, "Oh, that's just Trump spouting off."

HELLO?  This former guy wants to be our president again!

Years ago, I heard a survivor of the Nazi era explain why Germany's pre-Nazi government dissolved. The person said they couldn't tell if it was 10 minutes to midnight or 10 minutes past.

Buckle up — we've got work to do.

Kevin McCarthy spoke "hate" in response to the President Biden Independence Hall speech

Echo opinion letter published in Bakersfield.com, a California newspaper where Kevin McCarthy is the Congressional Representative:

(Failed❗ McCarthy) U. S. House Speaker, in waiting, Kevin McCarthy demonstrates with virtually every utterance on the public stage that he is a craven, power-obsessed elected official for whom truth, morality and basic human decency are seen as overrated.
When will Rep. Kevin McCarthy testify under oath about what happened during the January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol❓

McCarthy's shameful diatribe against President Joe Biden, on the day of the president's powerful speech at Philadelphia's Independence Hall was classic McCarthy: misstating what was said and demonstrating rank hypocrisy.

McCarthy lied.  He falsely claimed that the president slammed all Republicans. But, he did no such thing as the (failed!) representative knows. He called out those pro-Trump forces who do not accept the legitimate result of elections and who seek to sink our democracy in favor of an autocracy: the tyranny of the minority.

In challenging the president for supposedly delivering a hateful and divisive speech, one must wonder whether McCarthy had been asleep from January 2017, through January 2021, the period of the Trump presidency in which our "leader" spoke of his hatred and contempt for anyone who dared to challenge him, suggesting that some of his foes should be charged with treason and executed. Did McCarthy hear Trump when he referred to the media as "the enemies of the people," referenced government employees who offered evidence and testimony against him as "human scum" and "lowlifes?"
TFG has a personal shoe shiner!

Representative McCarthy, when you lie down with dogs ...

Mark Meadows is the modern equivalent of a eunuch!

Cassidy Hutchinson has proved to be an honorable Republican:
Opinion letter by Oren Spiegler, published in The Chicago Tribune:
Cassidy Hutchinson testified under oath at the January 6th House investigation committee.

We can now add Cassidy Hutchinson to the relatively small number of honorable Republicans who have been willing to come forward to reveal their knowledge of the corruption and moral bankruptcy of the former #TFG ~Donald Trump and many of those who served him. Hutchinson was in a position to gain knowledge about a great deal of what took place in the Trump White House, as the righthand assistant to Trump's chief of staff, (the eunuch ) ...

Mark Meadows!

Hutchinson knew that by testifying before the January 6, House committee, she would be permanently burning bridges with Trump and his loyal associates, that she would be smeared as a bimbo and a liar, and would receive threats from some who have pledged their allegiance to Trump. Her testimony was gripping, compelling and believable, especially given what we know about (evil!) Trump.

When history looks back on this tragic era and seeks to identify heroes and heroines who emerged amid the darkness, Hutchinson will be high on the list.

Stand with Dr. Anthony Fauci a scientist and highly skilled infectious disease expert

#IStandWithDrFauci  An opinion echo letter to the editor published in The New York Times.

Dr. Anthony Fauci vs. the stupid Senator Rand Paul about Vaccines: No ‘Bromance’ Here.

Human Rights Hero: Dr. Anthony S. Fauci

Since President Biden's administration took office, the esteemed infectious disease specialist Dr. Anthony Fauci has been free to speak the truth, no longer having to humor and placate a dangerous #FormerGuy president. It was gratifying to see Dr. Fauci use a congressional hearing to publicly rebuke his consistent tormentor, (the stupid*) Senator (who claims to be a doctor) Rand Paul, of Kentucky.

A Cornell grad, Dr. Fauci rose to the top of his field. In 2008, Dr. Fauci was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush, who cited the doctor's "determined and aggressive efforts to help others live longer and healthier lives."

Senator Paul is an ophthalmologist, (he is supposed to be...) a medical professional, but has consistently sought to poke holes in the efficacy of coronavirus vaccines, and in so doing has sought to drag Dr. Fauci into the mud by challenging his competence and veracity.

Thankfully, it is clear that Dr. Dr. Fauci will not allow himself to be used as a punching bag.

Kentucky has one senator, Mitch McConnell, who is acting honorably for a change, having adopted what is the true pro-life position in consistently urging his fellow Kentuckians and Americans to be vaccinated. I thank him for being willing to step over the wreckage of the hijacked Republican Party to do the right thing.

Senator Paul should heed the sage words of Representative Liz Cheney: “History is watching.”

*Maine Writer, I am a Registered Nurse.  I have the credibility to tell Senator Paul that he is an idiot!
