Republicans must stop the litany of incompetent Donald Trump tyrannical actions

When will we wake up❓ Echo opinion letter published in the Vermont Bennington Banner newspaper:

From Linda Putney in Bennington, Vermont

Most Republicans in Congress are afraid and refuse to stand up for our democratic rights against the tyranny of Donald Trump. Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska*, a startling admission from a GOP senator: ‘We are all afraid’.
"We are afraid", Senator Lisa Murkowski

Donald Trump pardoned 1500 participants of the January 6th invasion, killings and mass destruction of the capitol building.

Donald Trump stupidly believes that tariffs are the key to making the US richer.

Trump is a president who routinely lies, bullies, recklessly abuses his power, and has 34 felonies and a rape on his record. He is phalanderer.

Our government is being run by incompetent loyalists who kowtow to his every word. The rule of law is being trampled on by Donald Trump and his co-president Elon Musk.

We are told that diversity, equity, and inclusion discriminate against White men.

Trump has done nothing to right the error in the arrest of Kilmar Abgreo Garcia and perhaps others who were not allowed due process and are being held in a notorious El Salvador prison.

We are losing essential services by the firing of over 100,000 federal employees. Donald Trump stupidly believes that tariffs are the key to making the US richer.

This is just the horrific beginning during the second disasterous Trumpzi regime.

Millions of dollars of funding have been cut for critical medical research, and US aid to nations with humanitarian needs has been stopped. But Donald Trump treats Vladimir Putin like a friend and views Adolf Hitler as a hero.

We have destroyed our good relationship with our allies and have deserted the Ukraine.

Repored in the Seattle Times: Senator Lisa Murkowski, the moderate Alaska Republican who has routinely broken with her party to criticize President Donald Trump, has made a startling admission about the reality of serving in public office at a time when an unbound leader in the Oval Office is bent on retribution against his political foes.

“We are all afraid,” Murkowski said, speaking at a conference in Anchorage on Monday. After pausing for about five seconds, she acknowledged: “It’s quite a statement. But we are in a time and a place where I certainly have not been here before. I’ll tell you, I’m oftentimes very anxious myself about using my voice, because retaliation is real. And that’s not right.”

Murkowski’s comments were first reported by the Anchorage Daily News.

Republicans must reject Trump stupid tariffs and help restore confidence in the U.S. economy

Former Vice President Mike Pence, who served as vice president during Trump's first term, wrote on X, formerly Twitter, "The Trump Tariff Tax is the largest peacetime tax hike in U.S. history."

In facr, the tariffs were almost 10 times the size of those imposed during the Trump-Pence administration and would "cost American families over $3,500 per year."
'Bad Idea' 😕😢: Republicans Raise Alarm Over Donald Trump's Tariffs⚠️❗

#StupidTariffs harm middle class people and those who survive on fixed incomes because the increased taxes caused by tariffs outpace the financial ability for average Americans to keep sustainable revenue.

Americans will hold back spending because of economc uncertainty.

Echo news report published in Newsweek by Kahleda Rahman.
Several Republicans have raised alarm about Donald Trump's tariffs, warning they will raise prices and derail the economy.

On Wednesday—which he called "Liberation Day"—Trump announced that he would impose higher tariff rates on dozens of nations that run trade surpluses with the United States.

Speaking in the White House Rose Garden, Trump said he would impose a 10 percent baseline tariff on imports from almost all countries and "reciprocal" tariffs on others, unveiling a chart showing higher duties on some of the U.S.'s most significant trading partners.

Trump said the tariffs would boost domestic manufacturing, bring in revenue and restore fairness to global trade.

Nevertheless, many economists warned that the plan can push the economy into a recession and that American consumers would end up shouldering the burden of the tariffs, as importers passed on costs in the form of 💰 higher prices.

Later on Wednesday, the Senate passed a resolution by a 51-48 vote that would end Trump's emergency declaration on fentanyl trafficking underpinning his tariffs on Canada. Four Republican senators—Susan Collins, Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski and Rand Paul—voted with Democrats, highlighting cracks in GOP support for Trump's economic plans.

Still, unfortunately,😖😰 the legislation has little chance of passing the Republican-controlled House and being signed by Trump.

Thank you Senator Susan Collins of Maine

Senator Collins says much needs to be done in a divided Washington

Senator Susan Collins is Maine's senior senator

Thank you Senator Susan Collins. for your thoughtfully stated decision to remain in the US Senate to represent Maine people and to provide leadership to our nation at a time when we need your good judgement to help protect our best interests.

BloombergPolitics:

BANGOR, ME- Senator Susan Collins of Maine said Friday she has decided against running for governor next year, ending the prospect that one of the chamber’s last Republican moderates will leave Washington anytime soon. “I want to continue to play a key role in advancing policies that strengthen our nation,” Collins, 64, said at a breakfast speech before the Penobscot Regional Chamber of Commerce in her home state.

Collins listed challenges the U.S. faces -- from stagnant wages and expensive health care to a nuclear-armed North Korea and Russian interference in its elections, and said, “I have concluded that the best way that I can contribute to these priorities is to remain a member of the United States Senate.”

At a time when Republicans govern the chamber with a slim 52-48 majority, Collins has been a swing vote on health care, taxes and gun control, among other issues. She has had little to say so far on a tax-overhaul plan unveiled by the White House and Republican tax committee leaders, a debate likely to underscore her influence.

Her decision to remain in Congress comes as some lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are concerned about a possible exodus of party moderates. Other independent-minded Republicans, including Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee and Representative Charlie Dent of Pennsylvania, have announced they won’t seek re-election. Like Collins, they have been increasingly at odds with President Donald Trump.

Collins’s willingness to buck her party has been on display through much of this year. She was one of three Republicans -- along with Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and John McCain of Arizona -- to vote down a GOP replacement of the Affordable Care Act.

Earlier this year, Collins was the only Republican senator who voted against Trump’s choice of Scott Pruitt for Environmental Protection Agency administrator. She and Murkowski were the only two Republicans who opposed Betsy DeVos for education secretary.

Collins’s term ends in January 2021.
