Sagadahoc County the smallest Maine county! Sagadohoc County Democrats proud to show off No Kings Day participation in Midcoast Maine

Topsham Maine Democrats (aka "The Scoop" newsletter):
Special No👑 Kings Issue

Reported on Radio Midcoast (Maine) WCME social media:
A swarm of humanity today on the Brunswick Maine Town Mall and at adjacent spots downtown--on this, another "No Kings Day."
Hundreds of people, but too spread out for us to secure anything close to an accurate head count.

People protesting Donald Trump and many of his policies, and other "No
👑Kings" rallies today in Freeport, on the Sagadahoc Bridge in Bath, and in Wiscasset, Maine.

One man identifying himself as Gary, who lives in Topsham, Maine tells WCME News that he is a student of history and a son of immigrants, with a mother who grew up in Nazi Germany, and says "the parallels are terrifying."

Saturday, October 18, 2025, was a massive peaceful celebration of democracy, freedom of speech and assembly, the Constitution, and the rule of law. An estimated 7 million people turned out nationwide – all in protest of the many actions taken by the Trump administration in violation of those American principles.
Brunsick Maine No 👑Kings Day on the town mall October 18, 2025

The estimates by towns in the area were:Bath - 2,000
Brunswick - 3,000
Freeport - 3,000
Portland - 6,000!Topsham residents were proud demonstrators on this glorious day! They took great pictures! Here are some of them.

Why We Protest
❗❗
Topsham Maine residents, with their fellow Americans, peacfully protested. Although the day was glorious, it was very serious with so very much to protest:
  • The usurpation of Congressionally appropriated funds and Congressional power
  • The violent and cruel arrests and detention of mostly nonwhite people without due process of law,
  • The unlawful use of the military in American cities,
  • The violations of freedom of expression imposed on media outlets with meritless lawsuits and threats of regulatory disfavor,
  • The use of the Justice Department for Trump’s personal retribution,
  • The wielding of our government's power to force major American legal, educational, cultural and scientific institutions to bend to a twisted ideology that denies the rule of law, science, our diversity as a people and the truth in our history,
  • The destruction of inconvenient history, including the current East Wing of the White House after promising the massive ballroom would not interfere with the existing White House. (Yahoo News).
  • The cronyism, massive bribes to the Trump world in exchange for governmental favors, and
  • The intentional continued shift of American wealth to the stratospheres of billionaires while leaving ordinary people struggling to afford basic needs like food, shelter, child care, health care and education.
  • The manipulation of our voting systems to dilute and suppress votes and retain power,There will be much work to do ahead to save our country from this descent. and to rebuild a diverse, democratic nation, governed again by the rule of law, where everyone has basic security and the opportunity to thrive.
