Donald Trump and mag Republians do nothing to stop gun violence. Thoughts and prayers are useless without gun reforms

Echo opinion letter published in the Houston Chronicle:
No one is coming to take your guns, but we need meaningful reform now: Prayers are not enough

Another mass shooting, this time at the Annunciation Catholic School in Minnesota, where two children were murdered and 21 injured.
Our hearts are broken.
πŸ’” In America, this has become routine. Congress does nothing, while elected officials offer only β€œthoughts and prayers.”

Our anger grows as leaders at both the state and federal levels block reforms that could protect our children. They focus instead on political careers and divisive agendas.

I am a gun owner and military veteran. I favor smart reforms that will save lives.

No one is coming to take your guns. I have met with the offices of Rep. John Carter, Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. John Cornyn to push for reforms β€” even with petitions from fellow gun owners β€” but, to no avail.

We all must demand action from Congress:

β€’ Reinstate the assault weapons ban.
β€’ Limit magazine capacity.
β€’ Enforce secure storage.
β€’ Raise the purchase age for semi-automatics to 21.
β€’ Expand background checks and red flag laws.
β€’ Ban firearm modifications❗

How can legislators claim to be β€œpro-life” yet refuse to protect children?

Thoughts and prayers are not enough. Pass meaningful gun reform now.
