Sarah Huckabee Sanders redux: A Trump liar

It is impossible to understand why the Republican party put Sarah Huckabee (wannabee) Sanders on national TV to provide a rebuttal to President Joe Biden's State of the Union speech to Congress.  In my opinion, the Republicans had the opportunity to put an entirely new and fresh face on their brand of politics when they chose who would respond to the president's speech.  Instead, their choice was a throw back to the age of lies.  I just did an online search with the words "Sarah Huckabee Sanders lies" and an entire page of news links popped up.  For example, this one from Yahoo news:

Therefore, anything Huckabee Sanders said in her State of the Union rebuttal was already suspect, because of her lying reputation that preceded her.  This opinion letter from Wisconsin underscores her ineffective effort to convince ordinary Americans about the validity of her inappropriate political accusations.

Dear Editor: I am a senior, moderate independent voter, leaning Democratic. 

Gov. Sarah Sanders of Arkansas made some mis-interesting points on behalf of the Republican Party, responding to President Biden's State of the Union in February, 2023.

She accused Democrats of being “woke fantasizers.” Woke is “being conscious of racial discrimination in society and other forms of oppression and injustice,” according to Dictionary.com. Fantasy is “something that is produced by the imagination; an idea about doing something far removed from 'normal' reality,” according to Britannica.

She went on to imply that the Republican Party was “normal” while Democrats are “crazy.” This seems to be disgraceful disrespect to the “dreams” of Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln and our Founding Fathers.

Bluesplayer on July 18, 2018:  Ignoring all the Huckabee lies has got to be some sort of disorder. Blatant ignorance is no excuse for letting the country go down in flames. Letting this behavior fester is worse than the behavior itself.  Then, being a paid liar and repeat the lies on national media is treason as well…


Democrats be Heartened, take pride in being woke. It is Biblical, as in “Love they neighbor.” From Micah 6:8: “He has told you O Mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to love Justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God”

When she mentioned “crazy,” my mind flashed to the State of the Union Address when a women dressed like a huge marshmallow (Maine Writer: IMO, dressed for her night job) jumped up, pointed and screamed “liar.” I wondered if Trump had crashed the chamber to steal the podium. Or were she and her colleagues auditioning for the cold open of Saturday Night Live.


Or were they acting like spoiled, entitled, immature people? Are these the new normal leaders of the Republican Party? Will they next yell for burning books to control education, or ban wearing masks so people have the freedom to die against medical advice?

Finally, as a reminder to Sanders, it is the old folks who have sacrificed for the life you enjoy. You are salty, but not seasoned like President Joe Biden. The National Republican Party has lost my vote.

* Sarah Huckabee Sanders spoke to journalists outside the West Wing of the White House in April 2019.  She admitted to lying during a press conference about former FBI director James Comey when she claimed “countless” FBI agents told her they were happy Trump fired him. She confessed under oath during special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation that this was not true, but she downplayed it as a mere “slip of the tongue.”
