Why are Republicans protecting the January 6 insurrectionists?

Opinion echo letter published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, in Texas. 

Republicans have don't have to wonder anymore! They are hiding and protecting the guilty insurrectionists who attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021

Stupid! The GQP are protecting the January 6 insurgents.

Republicans have again shown us who they are. They filibustered a January 6 insurrection investigation by a committee evenly divided between Republicans and Democrats (which would have included their ability to veto any subpoenas). Now, after cynically appointing likely material witnesses to the select committee (whom they knew would be rejected), they have decided to simply abandon it.

Their game is obvious. The misguided Republican Party was, since the 2020, election, and still is, devoted to the desecration of our democracy.

Get on with it! On to the investigation, and the indictments of the individuals, both elected and unelected, who fomented revolution against we the people.
