United States Conference of Catholic Bishops are creating a hypocritical fake Eucharistic document!

"...single issue US Bishops..."

Catholic Democrats-: An echco opinion published by Catholic Democrats.  Thank you Catholic Democrats.

Maine Writer: This decision by the American Hypocrite Bishops makes my brail boil in anger!  It is time to Tax Roman Catholic Churches because these Bishops are making the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ -the Eucharist- a political statement. You know what? The Bishops may have the give of transubstantiation but they are not Gods.  In other words, "What Would Jesus Do?".

Catholic Democrats "Communion Wars" WWJD?

Boston, Mass., June 18, 2021 - Catholic Democrats is observing today that the proposal for a Eucharistic document – passed by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) yesterday with 73 percent of the U.S. (hypocritical!) Bishops (!?- WWTT?) voting in favor – comes from the fruit of a poisonous tree.

San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone

Although the genesis of the proposed document dates back to the emergence of the culture wars in the United States and the related “Communion Wars” of the 2004, presidential and subsequent campaigns, its specific development this year is a result of the election of President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. in November 2020. Immediately following the 2020 presidential election, Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez, President of the USCCB, asserted that the election of the first Catholic President since John F. Kennedy would create “confusion among the faithful about what the Catholic Church actually teaches” and he announced the formation of a working group “in order to help us to navigate [the situation].”

“After the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, including worship by virtual Mass without receiving Holy Communion, Catholics have a spiritual hunger for the Body and Blood of Christ. In this regard, a document on the Eucharist that welcomes the faithful back to Church could be of legitimate pastoral value, but within the context of the USCCB’s recent actions, it is not,” said Steve Krueger, president of Catholic Democrats. “Given that the roots of this document are tied to the election of our president and the development of the proposal has included language regarding ‘worthiness to receive communion’ and has ignored guidelines from the Vatican stressing a much more comprehensive process and unity, this proposal is the fruit of a poisonous tree. Prudence can only lead one to conclude that its passage at this time, in this way, has put the church in the U.S. on a dangerous, more divisive path.”

“As an African-American Catholic woman, it is heartbreaking to me that there are so many misguided single-issue US Bishops who reject this teaching moment of racial awakening to address the complex systemic evil of racism in our Church and society,” said Leslye Colvin, a member of Catholic Democrats board. “Rather than use the Gospel of Christ and the teachings of Pope Francis to dismantle the flawed construct of race and advance racial healing, they are blindly taking us down a path that will demean their teaching authority and will only lead to further division within our church. I pray that these men, individually and collectively, will move beyond their certainties and humbly enter a period of discernment inviting the Holy Spirit to move them beyond the duality of our time.”

“It is very disappointing that a majority of the USCCB decided to ignore the guidance of Cardinal Ladaria, the counsel of almost 70 of their brother bishops including 5 cardinals, and the direction of the Papal Nuncio and Pope Francis. The root of this initiative, the lack of process acceptable to the Vatican or conducive to consensus, and the rush to bring it to a vote raises serious questions about what these bishops are really seeking to accomplish. Some bishops told us on Thursday that they know their credibility is at stake. If the USCCB does not want to further diminish its reputation, it should release the vote of each bishop so that American Catholics can engage in dialogue with their bishops and priests on this dangerous undertaking,” said Bibiana Boerio, a supporter of Catholic Democrats who is on the boards of several other Catholic institutions.

“Nothing good can come of this as currently proposed – it will only further division,” said Krueger. “The only rational purpose to this dubious proposal would be to either diminish the Holy Father, the President of the United States, or both. In this regard, the proposed Eucharistic document will only further politicize the presence of Jesus in our lives.”

President-elect Joe Biden spread inspiration by "Restoring the soul of our nation"

Press release echo published by Catholic Democrats*:

November 9, 2020 (Boston, Mass.) – Catholic Democrats is celebrating the election of former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris as President and Vice President of the United States. President-elect Biden, who was the first Catholic Vice President, will only be the second Catholic to serve as President. Vice President-elect Harris will bring many firsts to the office of the vice president, including being the first woman of color.

“ 'Catholic Democrats' is thrilled and gratified to offer congratulations and our continued prayers to President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris. Throughout this campaign, the former vice president has led with a consistent message, rooted in his Catholic faith, of the need to restore the soul of our nation,” said Steven A. Krueger , president of Catholic Democrats . “He has withstood disgraceful withering attacks on his faith, while remaining steadfastly grounded in his Catholicism imbued in him from childhood and strengthened by the personal tragedies of his life. And without fanfare, he quietly empowered his campaign to reach out to and work with Catholic voters on an unprecedented basis – creating a base of support for his healing agenda. This victory is a testament to President-elect Biden’s and Vice President-elect Harris’ vision for the future of our great nation.”

Catholic Democrats focused the organization’s campaign efforts on broadly pushing back against attacks on President-elect Biden’s Catholic faith and specifically focusing on the Catholic vote in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In August, Catholic Democrats launched a Catholic Statement of Support after President Trump said that President-elect Biden was “against God.” On October 19th, Catholic Democrats sent a letter to every pastor and parish administrator in Pennsylvania , asking them to keep partisan politicking away from their parishes. And in the last week of the campaign, Catholic Democrats conducted a Facebook ad campaign that focused on Catholic voters in the Keystone State, with over 500,000 newsfeed ads being distributed to 250,000 moderate and left-leaning voting age Catholics.

The organization is now looking forward to supporting the incoming Biden-Harris administration’s challenging work to heal and restore the soul of our nation and to return civil discourse to the public square and comity to our democratic institutions. We also anxiously await the social justice initiatives of the new Administration that will provide sustenance and hope for the most vulnerable and marginalized among us.

“Joe Biden is the ideal president to heal America, protect America‘s health, and expand Social Security to ensure Americans of prosperity and dignity,” said James Roosevelt Jr. , an expert in healthcare policy and a member of the Catholic Democrats Board. “I’ve known Joe Biden for a long time and there is no doubt that the Biden-Harris victory will save hundreds of thousands of lives by both establishing science-based policies to address the COVID-19 pandemic and by implementing public policies that will provide the basic human right of health care for all. We now live in an era where Pope Francis leads our church and Joe Biden leads our country and this provides Catholics and all people of goodwill reason ‘to rejoice and be glad.’”

“As an African American woman, I can attest that the last four years have been a nightmare for many people of color and the ‘other,’ in our country,” said Leslye Colvin , a member of Catholic Democrats Board. “The difficult days of the 45th president’s term in office were anathema to the common good. During the presidential campaign, I drew inspiration from the prophetic message of President-elect Joe Biden, as well as his choice of Kamala Harris, a woman of color, for his running mate who has provided inspiration to women and girls of all races and creeds. ‘Restoring the soul of our nation’ is more than a campaign theme to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities. It represents a renewed commitment to the promise of America and to redeem our soul from our nation’s original sins of chattel slavery and genocide, as well as the deep-seated institutional racism that our society is only beginning to acknowledge.”

"As someone who embraces Catholic teaching of the consistent life ethic across the breadth of moral issues confronting our society, I was heartened to be invited by the Biden Campaign to speak on the Catholics for Biden calls,” said Jeannie Gaffigan , writer, television producer, mother of five, bestselling author and recent supporter of Catholic Democrats . “I believe that a crucial part of healing for our nation will necessarily include a new conversation on what it means to be ‘pro-life’ that does not fall neatly into predetermined partisan labels. I have confidence that President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris will create an atmosphere where those challenging conversations can take place.”

“To me, the essence of our Catholicism lies in striving for holiness,” said Patrick Whelan MD PhD , the founder of Catholic Democrats and a member of the board who researched and wrote The Catholic Case for Joe Biden.

“I will be proud to have a president whose Catholicism was instilled so deeply in him as a child, and reinforced throughout his life. He will bring his Catholic sensibilities, strengthened in personal tragedy, to his deliberations on how to best address the pressing moral issues of our time and the healing of our nation.”

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said, "“My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed."

I am hoping that Judge Amy Coney Barrett had a difficult time with the ethics of accepting the Supreme Court nomination by Donald Trump, to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The dying wish of Justice Ginsburg was for her seat to be filled after the inauguration, in 2021, of a new president.  Although Judge Barrett is qualified to sit on the United States Supreme Court, I believe she was misguided in accepting the nomination because of the precedent that was arbitrarily set by Senator Mitch McConnell when he rudely ignored the nomination of Judge Merrick Garland, after President Obama nominated him to replace Justice Scalia, when he died unexpectedly. Therefore, I agree with this opinion published by Catholic Democrats.  In my opinion, Justice Ginsburg's last dying wish should be honored, respected and kept.

Catholic Democrats Condemns Dishonorable Timing of SCOTUS Nomination & Encourages Judge Amy Coney Barrett to Withdraw

A Scalia Protégé, she will further divide Our Fractured Nation and

Her nomination will risk eliminating the Affordable Care Act health care coverage for millions of people.

September 27, 2020 (Boston, MA) - Below is a statement from Steven Krueger, president of Catholic Democrats, regarding the White House's nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court of the United States:

Catholic Democrats condemns the dishonorable timing of the nomination to the Supreme Court of the United States made by the current administration yesterday. We also strongly oppose the nominee, Judge Amy Coney Barrett, and encourage her to withdraw her nomination.

About 60 percent of the American public opposes the appointment of a Supreme Court Justice only weeks before the presidential election - and for good reason. Although the appointment is within the letter of the law, it is not within the spirit of our democracy.

This is underscored by the rampant hypocrisy of US Senate Republicans, who have lost their way and are poised to dishonor their oath of office again. The vivid memories of when they denied President Obama's moderate SCOTUS nominee, Judge Merrick Garland, so much as a nomination hearing still deeply trouble fair-minded Americans. At that time, the current occupant of the White House also weighed in with his agreement from the campaign trail.

As Catholics, our faith is based on our belief that God is Love and Truth. While the current occupant of the White House has declared that he doesn't ask God for forgiveness and has gone as far as to speak on behalf of God, the 20,000 plus lies of his presidency have been a remorseless assault, day-after-day, on civic decency and indeed "truth, justice and the American way."

As bullies and tyrants do, the 45th president is now seeking to impose his political will on the nation, without regard to the will of the American people. No one who truly loves our country, and who recognizes the human dignity of all people and their right to participate in democracy, would take such an ignoble action, particularly while also blowing a dog whistle to the nominee that he wants a 9th justice on the Supreme Court to settle any election cases in his favor.

How is it that Republicans want to destroy the protection for health care coverage provided by the Affordable Care Act?

At Saturday's nomination ceremony, Judge Barrett, a protégé of Justice Antonin Scalia, said that he had an "incalculable influence on her life" and that "his judicial philosophy is [hers]." We appreciate her candor but it puts anxiety in the pit of our stomach for the high risk her nomination poses to the common good of all Americans, particularly those in need of healthcare, working class families and those in financial need, and people of color.

Justice Scalia's judicial philosophy led him to vote against the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2012 and to say that the Voting Rights Act was "a racial entitlement."

The implications of Judge Barrett as Scalia 2.0 are ominous for our country on a range of issues that go beyond healthcare and voting rights including, reasonable gun safety legislation, the environment, immigration, and the death penalty to name just a few. And this foreboding is only exacerbated by the fractures in our nation.

If nominated, her judicial philosophy will be on display as soon as November 10th when a weak case challenging the ACA comes before the Supreme Court. In 2012, Judge Barrett criticized conservative Chief Justice John Roberts for not overturning the ACA saying, "Chief Justice Roberts pushed the Affordable Care Act beyond its plausible meaning to save the statute."

Beyond the extreme harmful impact that her judicial philosophy will impose on the American people, her acceptance of this nomination in and of itself disqualifies her to sit on the bench. By accepting this shameful nomination, the judge is in effect complicit with the 45th president in this parody of democracy and this will forever taint her appointment. We may never know if the 45th president asked about her opinions on mail-in voting, but there is no question of his expectations with respect to the outcome of the cases that will likely come before the Supreme Court, which may well determine who is our next president.

Judge Barrett is writing herself into a dark history of our country. If she truly "loves the United States," as she said she did yesterday, then she will withdraw her nomination.

Steve Krueger is available for interviews. If you are interested in speaking with him on this subject or matters related to the 2020 election, please contact him at media@catholicdemocrats.org or by phone at (617) 817-8617.

Trump's "Catholic Advisory Group" called to resign

Catholic Democrats Condemns
Donald Trump's Remarks Asserting
His Sexual Abuse of Women
Calls on Trump's Catholic Advisory Group to Resign
Any advisory groups that are somehow advising the Trump campaign must demand for him to resign because he is unqualified to lead, especially important among the Roman Catholics who are included.

I support this position as explained in the following press release:
LoV Block
Catholic Democrats

BOSTON, MA, OCTOBER 8, 2016 - Catholic Democrats is condemning the comments by Donald Trump that recently surfaced yesterday in an audio recording made in 2005. Trump is not only heard using crude language to describe women, but proudly boasts how he pursued a married woman and is also quoted as saying, "And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything."

The organization, which promotes the rich Catholic Social Justice Tradition in the public square and the Democratic Party, is calling on Trump's Catholic Advisory Group to repudiate Trump and to resign.

"As Catholics, we have a special obligation to make our voices heard when we see any individual use a position of power to sexually exploit another," said Steve Krueger, president of Catholic Democrats. "Catholics are all too keenly aware of both the damage of sexual abuse on victims - sometimes life threatening - as well as the connection between sexual abuse and the abuse of power."

Krueger is the founding executive director of Voice of the Faithful, the movement that emerged out of the clergy sexual abuse crisis to support victims and survivors. "Governor Frank Keating was a co-chair of the National Review Board for the Protection of Children and Young People (NRB), a lay-led board appointed by the U.S. Bishops to address the clergy sexual abuse crisis. He knows better than most how sexual abuse can be the result of an abuse of power. We urge him - and all of the individuals on the board - to demonstrate their zero tolerance for sexual abuse and resign from their positions on Trump's Catholic Advisory Group."

Last July, when asked if he had ever asked God for forgiveness, Trump said, "I am not sure I have. I just go on and try to do a better job from there. I don't think so. I think if I do something wrong, I think, I just try and make it right. I don't bring God into that picture. I don't."

Said Nicholas Cafardi, MA, JD, JCL, JCD, a prominent canon lawyer, member ofCatholic Democrats Board, and a former NRB co-chair, "Just as someone who would build walls between people is not acting like a Christian, as Pope Francis said, any person who would use their position of power to sexually abuse a woman is not acting like a Christian."

"Right now Trump's biggest problem is not a political one," said Krueger. "His biggest problem is really a spiritual one because, by his own words, he does not ask for forgiveness. Let us pray for the American people, all those who have been sexually abused, and even for Donald Trump."
